Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library #246 featuring **Talisman Tales ~ A Nine Lives Magic Mystery** by Danielle Garrett PLUS Friendly Fill-Ins

Hello meautiful library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and don't beleive the vicious rumours that were spread on The Midweek News; I was not sulking, I was just expressing an opinion and a right to not have my Sunday Snoozes ruined by being ambushed with an antibacterial eye wipe created just for cats.

I do not take kindly to having my eyes wiped at anytime, but while I'm relaxing in some furbulous warms it's definitely not the time to try it. In fact, no time is the right time to wipe my eyes, and I just noticed that my diary schedule is now completely chocker-block and there'll no eye wiping for the foreseeable future.

Anyloo, I hope mew're sitting down, because look where I was the other day. Yes indeed, I ventured outdoors.

Amber's Book Reviews #246 ©BionicBasil® Amber's Brief Gazebo Excursion

I had a very brief amble outside under the gazebo, I inspected to the freshly placed table cloth, gave it my seal of approval and then went back indoors, as I had this weeks book to listen to, mew know it's a full-time job finding and reviewing books. But I think I do ok, all things considered; such as sleeping 20 hours a day, plus snacking and then a bit of brushing and other beauty treatments, but never eye wiping! MOL

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.

1. I would ________________ for _________________.
2. The last ____________ I attended was ________________.
3. I can’t relax until _________.
4. I knew I needed _________ when _________.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. I would love to go on holiday somewhere with a beautful beach, and very few people for a week. Sadly, that won't be happening for another decade or two! LOL

2. The last crystal fair/show I attended was Spring 2022. I've missed four this year so far, maybe I'll get to the next one in September.

3. I can’t relax until all the daily tasks and jobs are finished. And even then I'm thinking about what needs to be done next. It's like being on a hamster wheel that never stops! LOL

4. I knew I needed to reorganise my crystal room and craft room last month when I suddenly seemed to run out of space:-

Are all taking up lots of space because if I bring them into the house, Smooch will get his feng shui compass out and pee on anything that's not in the right place. The majority of the
Crafting with Cats projects live pee-free in the craft room, and The B Team seem to enjoy all their fun stuff when they join me while I'm sewing/making/mending/altering things.

I often discover them sleeping in the houses or snoozing in the flat-bed of Mog 1. I found Smooch upside down in Mog 1 on Tuesday afternoon, he loves everything, as long as it stays across the courtyard, or only comes into the house from a hour or so, before it's returned.

The only craft projects that stay in the house are the smaller toys which can be removed from floor level after playtime. If Smooch sees something in the house, that in his furry brain doesn't belong, he expresses his disppleasure by widdling on it.

Talisman Tales

A Nine Lives Magic Mystery

by

Danielle Garrett

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

The truth of what happened to Aunt Lavender has finally been dragged into the light—so why does everything feel darker than before?

With the help of Selene and an unexpected ally, we have one final mission to accomplish. It’s not going to be easy, but we’re not going down without a fight.

After last weeks review I thought I'd share book #6 in the Nine Lives Magic Mystery series because I needed to know what happened next, and if mew missed the reviews for books one, two, three, four and five, click the links below.

Talisman Tales, the sixth book in the Nine Lives Magic Mystery series by Danielle Garrett, is a thrilling conclusion to the main plot line since book one. Throughout the series, we follow the journey of our protagonist, Cora, who discovers she has magical powers and is on a mission to find her missing aunt Lavender.

After book fives'; one step forward, three to the side and four back for Cora, book six charges forward onto the home stretch finally. With Aunt Lavendar finally being found, but that's as much as I'm going to say on that matter! MOL (Mew know I detest to spoilerise things with any big details.)  The plot progression throughout the series is impressive, with each book building upon the last to create a cohesive and engaging storyline. The pacing is also well done, with plenty of action and suspense to keep the reader on the edge of their seat and the pages turning at a good rate. The character development is one of the highlights of the series, with each character evolving and growing throughout the books. The protagonist, in particular, undergoes a significant transformation as she embraces her magical abilities and learns to use them to solve mysteries and help others. Overall, Talisman Tales was a great read and with all loose ends tied up nicely and a sense of closure for the reader for that particular adventure, yet is it really the end for Selene and Cora?

If mew're a fan of magic, mystery, and strong female characters, then the Nine Lives Magic Mystery series is a must-read. A totally top paw book in my humble opinion, as the authors writing style is engaging and easy to follow, making this series perfect for readers of all ages.

I was sad to see it conclude... but great news furry book lovers, a new adventure awaits Cora and Selene in book seven, so mew know what I'm adding to my to read list today! MOL

Love To Read? Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library #213 featuring **Purrfect Potions** by Danielle Garret PLUS Friendly Fill-Ins PLUS **DON'T FORGET MY 20TH BIRTHDAY PAWTY ON MONDAY 24TH OCTOBER**

Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library ©BionicBasil®

Hello fabulous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me today and this week as it was a little warmer I've been spending my mornings in the catservatory with my stuffed pal Ratty.

Amber's Book Reviews #213 What Are We Reading This Week ©BionicBasil® Amber Relaxing in the Catservatory with Ratty

Ratty is really great company, conversations are so easy with him as he agrees with everything I say, and to be honest I really like that I get to do all the talking and impart my epic knowledge and wisdom to somepawdy who really appreciates it!

And I've just remembered it's my 20th birthday on Monday, so I do hope mew can all come to my pawty. Pandora and I are really excited as we've got a new location this year and it will kick off a week-long celebration of all things Halloween at BBHQ, and mew know how much we love Halloween.

1. Every October, I __________________.

2. If I were going to a costume party, I would go as ______________________.

3. _________ is my favorite scary story.

4. I would _________ if there were a zombie apocalypse.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. Every October, I say I'm going to get the garden ready for winter, and the most I do is get all the leaves up, and end up doing more in November.

2. If I were going to a costume party, I would go as cat woman.

3. _________ is my favorite scary story. I don't really have any favourites in this genre. I used to read James Herbert when I was younger, and I can still remember reading the last line of The Rats, yep, nasty. And let's not talk about The Fog!

4. I would head into the BBHQ bunker and batten down the hatches if there were a zombie apocalypse. I really wish I had The B Teams bunker for real, if I'm ever fortunate enough to have the money, I would like to build a bunker, it's been on my to-do list for decades!

Purr-fect Potions

A Nine Lives Magic Mystery

by
Danielle Garrett

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

After unearthing Aunt Lavender’s secret, we may finally know why she was abducted. Unfortunately, it also means the stakes are higher than ever.

We’re making headway, but we need help to navigate the elusive world of magical treasure hunting. So, when famed adventurer Tabitha Blake arrives in Winterspell, offering to help, I jump at the chance to work with her.

Amber's Book Review Mice Divider ©BionicBasil®

Today as promised, I'm sharing book #4 in the Nine Lives Magic Mystery series, and if mew missed the reviews for books one, two and three click the links below.

Trouble in paradise? Poor Cora discovers that her boyfriend's mother isn't a fan and this causes a few issues in her relationship with Clint. There is another bombshell which dampens things even more, however, I'm not going to spoilerize any further on that matter.

Selene's cattitude is still ratcheted up to ten as the series continues, but there is a deep revelation about Selene's past and why she can be so snotty.

They are also joined by a famous adventurer Tabitha Blake who offers her services for free to assist in the search for Aunt Lavender, but all is not as it seems, or is it?

As with the previous books, the pacing is spot on, and there's plenty of twists and turns in the plot to keep mew guessing who's good and who's got an agenda all of their own.

I did see a couple of reviews on Amazon where readers said they felt the author is stringing out the series and after four books there's still no real conclusion. But isn't that idea of a series, and it'll be concluded when the author decides?

Anyhoo I'm really enjoying this series, and if mew remember in review 2, link above, I said that the 5th instalment was being released on the 16th of October, well it hasn't been released yet, it's now saying the 31st of October, and it will be available with Kindle Unlimited it mew have that.

Love To Read? Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library #212 featuring **Cursed Claws: A Nine Lives Magic Mystery** by Danielle Garrett PLUS Friendly Fill-Ins

Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library ©BionicBasil®

Hello fellow book-loving library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and the weather has turned cooler this week at BBHQ. So much so that I requested a fresh blanket and that the P.A. make me a supurr toasty fire in the sitting room! MOL

Amber's Book Reviews #212 What Are We Reading This Week ©BionicBasil® Amber Relaxing in the Lounge

So we had the first fire of the autumn as it was feeling quite damp, and the house is so much cooler at the moment. Having thick walls in the summer is great as it keeps the house cool, but in the winter it makes the house even colder, in fact, some days it can be warmer outside! MOL

Anyhoo, I hope mew've all had an ameowzing week and are looking forward to the weekend.

I took delivery of my new kindle on Friday and have already read two new cozy mysteries, Halloween themed ready for the end of the month. And I must say the new paperwhite kindle is much easier to read than my previous model from 2011; I will try it outside on the next sunny day to let mew know how it is in a bright outdoor situation.

More on the new kindle next week, and I'll share some extra books that I've discovered on offer via Audible and Amazon.

1. Living with 6 cats keeps me on my toes. All those little purrsonalties, each with their own demands and requests are enough to keep anyone on the toes! LOL

Cursed Claws

A Nine Lives Magic Mystery Book #3

by
Danielle Garrett

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

Tracking down Aunt Lavender’s kidnapper is proving to be more difficult than running through a swimming pool filled with peanut butter. Every lead we uncover ends with more questions than answers.

We’re running out of ideas—and time, too. The mysterious Golden Lotus seems to hold the key to the investigation, but no one can tell us what it does or why Aunt Lavender might have been looking for it.

And if that wasn’t enough to keep both my cranky feline familiar and me completely occupied, we find ourselves thrust into the center of another criminal investigation—this time as the lead suspects.

Amber's Book Review Mice Divider ©BionicBasil®

Today I'm sharing book #3 in the Nine Lives Magic Mystery series, and if mew missed the reviews for books one and two, click the links below.

Cora is back with talking cat Selene, and they're still frantically searching for clues to help rescue Aunt Lavender after finding out she's been kidnapped.

Selene's cattitude doesn't improve much during this adventure, as Cora finds herself in the midst of a candle coma dilemma as she is accused of making dodgy magic candles which renders anyone who burns them in an unwakable, magical coma. Luckily for her, her new boyfriend comes to the rescue with expert legal help but her shop Wicked Wicks has to close its doors temporarily.

Can Cora with the 'un'help of Selene save her magical candle shop and uncover any more clues to find Aunt Lavender before it's too late?

As with books one and two, the story is nicely plotted and paced with enough of a roller coaster ride to keep mew turning those pages, or in my case listening until the very end!

The main characters are evolving as are their relationships, and the ancillary cast is just enough to keep things fresh without overpowering the storyline as Cora and Selene try to solve not one but two mysteries.

In my humble opinion, this is another fabulous instalment in the series and as I've said before if mew love your cozy mysteries like me, this is one for your bookshelf.
