We've also been working on a new garden, though we're not sure if we mentioned it before. It's down the side of the house, it's a long narrow strip of nothingness (it was quite grim, so much so that the P.A. has never taken a photo of it), and the P.A. has been at a loss for what to do with it for the last 23 years (MOL), so late last year after a lot of standing in the space and summoning any creative spirits who would listen for inspiration, she decided it might be a good idea to turn it into a small veggie garden with narrow raised beds.
Anyhoo, on Caturday Dad built two raised beds with a cloche top on, and the P.A. built two garden arches to grow the runner beans up. And yes, the runner beans have just broken through the soil and are getting ready to bolt, although they will have their tops pinched out when the second set of leaves appear this week.
The raised beds need painting - yep another painting job - before anything is planted. But the good news is that a redundant/dead space is now being repurposed and will hopefully look quite lovely by the end of the summer, so we'll share a few pictures. We'll take one now, so mew can see it under construction and share it next week.
Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.

Voting for the horoscope bandana.
ReplyDeleteAmber, you've got some serious disdain on your face!
We remember Ramsbottom! That's an epic throwback, for sure!
ReplyDeleteMelvyn, we vote for the astrology bandana next. And hey, Parsley and Amber ... looking good! So are the lupins. :)
I don't remember Ramsbottom, but judging by the date we would most likely have been on a cruise then. It is a handsome photo of you with him, Basil. Good job with the modelling Melvyn, but it looks like you might have competition. The flowers are lovely and Parsley made a good choice. Don't sulk Amber, you look beautiful with clean eyes.
ReplyDeleteFirst up Angel Basil, the best pictures are of the day are of all you beautiful kitties. Next comes the flowers. Lynn is so jealous, so she will just stare at the flower photos and dream of a veggie garden without deer herds. She will buy farmer market green beans and think on your mum's home grown. But we both agree, no painting will be involved around here. Precious
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blooms. Cute shot of Amber. My Rosie gets runny eyes and won't let me clean them, but she lets her dad do it. Nice bandana. I still vote for the fairies though. XO
ReplyDeleteOh the flowers. Oh the flowers. Beautiful. I would love to see your yard.
ReplyDeleteYour kitties are so precious too.
I choose Fairy Magic for next week.
Have a fabulous day and rest of the week. Scritches to the kitties and a hug to mom. ♥
Beautiful pictures of gardens and kitties, and another garden sounds marvelous! Melvyn looks super spiffy and Amber looks like she means business! The kitties and I think the peach blossom bandana is peachy keen, but they're all cute!
