Hello, meautiful library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and I'm thrilled to be able to share another part of my travel diary with mew today.

Here I am at Karnak, WOW, what a place!

Amber the orange tabby cat enjoys a luxurious picnic in front of Egypt’s Karnak Temple. Wearing a straw sunhat, orange sunglasses, and a pearl necklace, she lounges at a checked table set with tuna and catnip triangle sandwiches, berry tartlets, herb crackers, churros, a glass of Bucks Fizz with a pink umbrella, scrolls, and a wicker basket of books. A tasselled parasol shades the scene, blending feline elegance with ancient Egyptian grandeur. Only at www.bionicbasil.com

🧺 My Egyptian Adventure #2: Picnicking Among the Pillars of Time ☀️

Location: Karnak Temple Complex, Luxor

Time: Late morning, with the sun high and the sass higher

Dahlings, today I traded moonlight for sunlight and yachts for ruins, and what a glorious swap it was. I arrived at the Karnak Temple, paws first, ready to picnic like a queen among the gods. The ancient sandstone columns towered above me, etched with hieroglyphs that whispered secrets of pharaohs' past. I do love a bit of historical gossip.

Karnak, for those who skipped history class, is one of the largest religious complexes ever built. It was dedicated primarily to Amun-Ra, the sun god, and expanded over centuries by ambitious rulers who clearly understood the importance of grandeur. I felt right at home.

I laid out my checkered tablecloth in the shade of a tasselled parasol, because one must protect the fur, dahling, and unpacked a spread worthy of Bastet herself:

Triangle tuna and catnip sandwiches, crusts off, naturally
Silvervine and berry tartlets that sparkled like rubies
Herbed catmint crackers and mini churros for a sweet-salty balance
A chilled glass of Bucks Fizz with a pink umbrella (because hydration should be utterly furbulous)
A wicker basket filled with books and scrolls, because even on holiday, I must remain intellectually radiant

Wearing my straw sunhat and signature orange sunglasses, I reclined with a sandwich in my paw and surveyed the scene. Tourists snapped photos of the columns; I posed beside them. I caught my reflection in my glass and whispered, “Amber, I can't believe mew're here, what an honour!” And it was.

The columns of Karnak may have stood for millennia, but today they bore witness to something truly iconic: my picnic. I even left a pawprint in the sand, just in case future archaeologists need a clue! MOL MOL

Mood: Scholarly, sun-kissed, and epically serene

Quote of the day: “Some moments aren’t about being seen, they’re about feeling grateful to be part of something timeless.”

Well, that's this week's travelogue done. Next week, I’ll be exploring the Valley of the Kings. Expect drama, dust, and dazzling accessories.

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top book pick.

A panoramic view of The Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ showcases tall white bookshelves filled with colourful paperbacks, vintage leather-bound volumes, and decorative items like framed pictures and sculptures. 1. My _____________is __________________because _____________________.
2. I stopped _____________________________because ______________________________.
3. I’m _________ away from _________.
4. _________ is the scariest experience I’ve ever had in my own home.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. My happy place is BBHQ because there's no place like home. It's where the cats roam, the garden blooms, and the ideas for the B Team bubble up like a cauldron of creativity.

2. I stopped making stuff in the craftroom because it's having a major overhaul right now, but I can't wait to get back in there and start making some really fun stuff again!

3. I’m a cat's whisker away from a brand new B Team adventure. It won't be ready for a Halloween launch, but that's okay... there's always November and something to look forward to! I was writing the start of chapter one two days ago, and I couldn't stop laughing. I mean, it was hilarious... you'll know when you read it...

4. _________ is the scariest experience I’ve ever had in my own home. Yeah, I don't think you want to know the scariest, because it still freaks me out when I think about it decades on, so here's a not-so-scary, but still frightening experience... the ceramic hob would be on in the kitchen, when no one had been in the kitchen or near the cooker... I'd go and turn it off, and then it would be on again.

📚 This Week’s Paw-Picked Read: The Windmill Murders

This week’s read had me clutching my pearls and fluffing my tail in sheer suspense! The Windmill Murders is a whisker-whirling whirlwind of secrets, shadows, and suspicious scones, and I adored every twist.

🐾 What’s the Story?

When Tilly receives an invitation to a mysterious tea party hosted by her long-lost great-aunts, she and Hettie find themselves at the heart of a windmill full of secrets. But this isn’t your average rustic retreat, oh no, it's not at all what it seems. The mill creaks with ghostly whispers, the priory nearby is positively haunted, and the field is crawling with hippy cats who may or may not be part of a feline cult. I was hooked from the first pawstep.

And as the case unfolds, Tilly must confront her family’s tangled past while Hettie, ever the pragmatic sleuth, digs into a trail of betrayal, murder, and millstone-sized mysteries.

😻 What I Loved:

🌪️ The windmill itself is a character, moody, mysterious, and full of creaky charm.

🧁 The tea party scene? Utterly bonkers and brilliant. I nearly spilled my catnip chai.

🕵️‍♀️ Hettie and Tilly’s dynamic is as sharp as ever, equal parts sass and smarts.

👻 The ghostly elements are delightfully eerie without ever losing the humour.

🎨 The supporting cast of quirky cats adds layers of surreal joy and feline flair.

📖 My Final Thoughts:

This book is a purrfect blend of gothic whimsy and detective drama. Mandy Morton continues to deliver tales that are as cosy as a blanket fort and as thrilling as a midnight prowl. I read it in two sittings. And a plus this week, Reginald was too busy meditating with the magical creatures in the Library Archive reading nook, so he didn't interrupt me this time. MOL.

After finishing the final chapter, I found myself staring suspiciously at the BBHQ wind chimes (we have lots) … they do sound different at night.

Another Whisker-Twitching Triumph in an Epic Series!

Unputdownable feline fiction that left me purring with delight.

Hello, meautiful library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and as promised last week, here's my first Travel Diary entry from my summer jolly exploring the motherland, Egypt.

I did enjoy my trip so much, and feel utterly blessed that I can share all my experiences with mew, my supurr epic besties!

Under a glowing full moon, Amber the glamorous cat is wearing and orange evening gown and diamond necklace as she dines aboard a luxury yacht, enjoying a lavish seafood platter with lobster, shrimp, oysters, and caviar. Holding a fork with shrimp, she’s surrounded by Catnip Champagne, a filled flute, and a stack of books, all set against a calm ocean backdrop. This whimsical scene blends feline elegance with high-seas indulgence. Perfect for luxury cat lifestyle content, surreal pet humour, and nautical glamour from www.bionicbasil.com

🛥️ My Egyptian Adventure #1: Dining Like a Goddess 🌕

Location: Aboard The Purrluxe, Nile River

Time: Moonrise, with a breeze just light enough to flirt with my whiskers

Dahlings, tonight was divine. I dined beneath a full moon aboard my private yacht, The Purrluxe, anchored gracefully on the Nile. The water shimmered like diamonds, almost as dazzling as the ones around my neck. I wore my favourite orange chiffon gown, naturally, and my diamond necklace caught the moonlight as if it were born to do so. I don’t dress to impress; I dress because I can.

The table was set with the kind of elegance that would make Cleopatra purr. A silver platter overflowed with lobster, shrimp, oysters, caviar, and roe so fresh it practically winked at me. I lifted a delicacy with my fork (yes, I use cutlery on occasion, don’t act surprised) and savoured it slowly while sipping Catnip Champagne from a crystal flute. The bubbles tickled my nose. Purrfection.

Beside me, a stack of books waited patiently. I always dine with literature; it keeps the conversation intelligent. The moon hung low, casting a silvery glow across the deck, and I thought to myself: This is what it means to live unapologetically.

I caught my reflection in the champagne bottle and whispered, “Amber, mew are the moment.”

And I was.

Tomorrow, I picnic among the ruins of Karnak. Sandwiches, sunhats, and more epicness. But tonight? Tonight, I was a goddess on the Nile.

Mood: Regal, radiant, and slightly smug (but not in a hubris way!)

Quote of the night: “I bet mew wish mew were me. Sadly, mew’re not. MOL.”

Two stylized black cats sit back-to-back in symmetrical elegance, adorned with golden earrings and ornate red, white, and gold collars. Their upright ears and curved tails evoke ancient Egyptian artistry, celebrating the cultural reverence of felines. Set against a neutral backdrop, this striking design blends historical symbolism with modern flair. Perfect for Egyptian cat mythology, decorative feline art, and heritage-inspired storytelling from www.bionicbasil.com

Well, that's this week's travelogue done, and I do hope mew enjoyed it. Next week, I'll be sharing Karnak, and I can't wait.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. My plans for October include thinking about a new B Team Adventure (yes, I already have two options) and, if I'm lucky, perhaps writing a chapter or two to share with you all. (No promises as it's been hectic lately, but I am trying my best! LOL)

2. Sometimes it is easier to stay silent than explain something to someone who won’t understand or listen.

3. I didn’t mean to create a feline cult around the new 'Rover One' toy, but it turned out that way.

4. I’d rather deal with a haunted library than a haunted mirror.

The Cat and The Pendulum

The No. 2 Feline Detective Agency Book 10

by

 Mandy Morton

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

When the celebrated crime writer Agatha Crispy engages Hettie and Tilly in the search for a stolen manuscript, our feline detective duo is plunged into a world of Dickensian thieves and murderers.

Amber's Book Review Mice Divider ©BionicBasil®

This week’s paw-picked read had me on the edge of my cushion with my tail twitching in suspense! I just finished The Cat and The Pendulum, and let me tell mew, it’s a whisker-raising, fur-fluffing feline mystery that’s as cozy as it is curious.
🐾 What’s the Story?
When the legendary crime writer Agatha Crispy (yes, really!) calls upon Hettie and Tilly to find her stolen manuscript, our favourite feline detectives are plunged into a world of Dickensian drama, ghostly goings-on, and cryptic clues.
Is Jake the Nipper’s ghost really prowling the foggy streets of Kitzrovia? What secrets lie beneath the church of St Mavis and Cucumber? And why does Madame Two Paws’s waxwork exhibition give me the heebie-jeebies?
😻 What I Loved:
✨ Agatha Crispy is a total delight, dramatic, eccentric, and with just the right amount of chaotic crisis.
🕵️‍♀️ Hettie and Tilly are as sharp as ever, with their signature no-nonsense and snappy dialogue.
🌫️ The setting is gloriously gothic, think candlelit crypts, shadowy alleyways, and suspicious sausages.
🎭 The humour is top-tier, with surreal twists and feline flair that had me giggling into my catnip tea.
📖 My Final Thoughts:
This book is a purrfect blend of mystery, mischief, and moggy madness. If mew love quirky plots, clever cats, and a touch of the supurrnatural, The Cat and The Pendulum is a must-read. I devoured it in three sittings; it would have been two, but Reginald kept asking me to fetch his plush flamingo toy! MOL Immediately after reading the final line, I wanted to don my own detective hat and investigate the BBHQ broom cupboard for hidden manuscripts! 🐾🕵️‍♂️

Another Wickedly Furbulous Addition To The Series!
Unputdownable feline fiction that left my whiskers tingling with excitement! 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
