Furbulous Greetings Supurr Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Happy Wednesday, epic furiends, how's your week been?

Firstly, let's do the weather report. It's been very windy during the day, and then late in the night, no wind at all. It was supurr scorchio on Friday and Caturday with temperatures reaching 32 Celsius, and just to make it extra, we were blessed with extreme humidity, it was rather fluffing hot. So much so that the air con unit was plugged in to cool upstairs down, as it was heaving.

Mew know the heat in the U.K. is odd, it's rather deceiving. Mew think 28 to 30 C degrees is just a nice summer temperature, oh no, not here, it's hideous! MOL

So this week, we wanted to share one of the rambling roses with mew. Now, these roses were planted way back in 2004, and the reason we can remember that is because that's the year the fence went up.

The P.A. doesn't really prune them, but they get a bit of a haircut with the hedge trimmer, much later in the year, but that's about it. This particular one is actually growing through a holly tree, and we think it's looks epic.

A vibrant pink rambling rose entwines with a mature holly tree in the BBHQ garden, its bright blooms contrasting beautifully against the glossy green holly leaves. This striking garden scene showcases the natural harmony between climbing roses and evergreen trees, offering inspiration for cottage garden design, vertical planting ideas, and wildlife-friendly landscaping. Oh, and mew remember last week when we planted the four-leaf clover seeds, the squirrel went and dug in the pots - yep, we couldn't believe it either. We've moved them to a safer location and are still watering them as needed.

We'll let mew know if any of the remaining seeds sprout! MOL

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.

Well, that's a daft question, because we all know they belong to Fudge! MOL

After Smooch had boycotted the basket under the gazebo since it had a clean, Parsley moved in!

  4. Ah, the delights of summer -- staying indoors! The roses are delightful and Melvyn did a fabulous job with the modeling.

As for next week, I'm torn between the flutterbyes and In the Jungle. The latter looks like one of my Sweetie's hula shirts!

  5. It has been hot here also with 90%+ humidity. It is a bit cooler the last couple of days, and today the humidity has dropped to 85, but forecast for 95% tomorrow. The joys of having two sea coasts on either side!
The rose looks lovely. I have one that looks the same and was probably planted around 2000. It lived in a large pot for a few years before that and never did much. Once planted in the Memorial garden it grew like crazy.
Fudge has lovely toe beans. I am glad the vacuumed basket has gone back into use since Smooch's disgust with it.
Melvyn is looking good in his bandana. I vote for Catastatic Cats for next week.

  9. Mercats for sure!
We had high heat and humidity too, with a break today then more heat.
It's just too hard to get things done when it's so hot, but Da Boyz didn't care, and Henry found a corner to sleep in.
