The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up **MONSTER CATMINT** ~ Flat Out with Smooch, Fudge On Pawtrol, and Parsley's Purrfect Pose ~ **PLUS** Melvyn's Modelling This Week's Bandana

Seven cats sit together in a colourful garden filled with flowers, butterflies, and festive bunting. Behind them are scattered newspapers and a large banner that reads “Midweek News Round Up with the B Team.” One cat on the left has its mouth open as if shouting, next to a speech bubble that says “EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!” The scene is bright, playful, and lively, with each cat displaying different fur colours and patterns. The overall design feels cheerful and whimsical, like a fun feline news announcement.

Supurr Floofy Greetings Pawesome Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Happy Wednesday, and thank mew so much for dropping by. Pull up a chair, get comfortable, and let’s dive into what’s been happening at BBHQ over the last few days.

The Weekly Weather Report

Oh my cod, it was so hot, utterly, heinously scorchio again all last week, we were so thankful for the fans and air con... luckily yesterday, Monday, it started to cool down, and today, it's even cooler, normal temps for this time of year.

So we're on pawtrol catching up with what's been happening outdoors, as we haven't had hardly any time out there in what seems forever! MOL

A colourful illustrated weather report for the fictional village of Mewton‑Clawson, showing a detailed map with landmarks such as the standing stones, church, pub, woodland, fields, and BBHQ. Each location has a small weather icon and temperature for Monday. On the right, a five‑day forecast panel lists rising temperatures from pleasant to very hot. In the bottom corner, a cat wearing sunglasses lounges on an inflatable ring with a drink, adding a humorous touch. Speech bubbles provide playful commentary about the changing weather, and a “Paw‑Trol Tip” encourages shade, water, treats, and sensible siestas.
(Amber made the map, no we don't live by the sea, this is just wishful thinking on her part! MOL)

But the bad news is, apparently, allegedly, it's going to start heating up again... the P.A. is even thinking about getting the pool set up, because at her time of life, any more heat is not pleasant! MOL

This is one of the catmint plants, and we love it!

A lush garden scene featuring a large, overflowing mound of catnip with dense purple‑blue flowers growing out of a millwheel and spilling over terracotta paving stones. Behind the catnip are taller plants with green foliage and clusters of pale pink flowers, creating a layered, vibrant display. The overall look is bright, full, and summery, highlighting an impressively large catnip plant in a well‑tended garden.

Since this photo was taken earlier in the month, it's even bigger now, yep, more to share, or not! MOL

Oh, and the P.A. found her propurr camera this week... it makes all the difference!

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.

Butterflies in various colours flutter above the dense blooms, creating a lively, cheerful meadow atmosphere. First up in the news this week

Flat Out with Smooch

A white cat with black markings lies stretched out on a tan fleece blanket decorated with paw prints. The cat is resting outdoors, surrounded by green plants and small pink flowers, creating a peaceful garden scene.

Smooch was flat out, he said, and I quote...

"Fluff this heat, I'm staying in the shade on my blanky!"

He wasn't outside long as the P.A. told him, it's 8 am, time to come back inside.

Next up in the news

Fudge On Pawtrol

A fluffy orange cat walks through a sunlit garden filled with tall flowering plants and vibrant red blooms. Warm golden light filters through the foliage, creating a bright, summery atmosphere as the cat patrols the lush garden path.

Fudge enjoyed a wonderful pawtrol just as the sun was setting; it was rather magical!

The squirrels were hopping all over the place, the hedgehogs were snuffling around looking for some tasty slow-moving snacks, aka snails or slugs, before they headed to the snack station and watering hole, which we've now named Spike's 24/7 Taverna!

The birds were singing... and Fudge couldn't decide what to look at next!

Parsley's Purrfect Pose

A sleek black cat sits neatly on a sunlit lawn, wearing a collar with a small tag. Behind the cat is a colourful garden filled with plants and bright red and pink flowers. Warm sunlight highlights the cat’s glossy fur and the vibrant foliage, creating a serene summer scene.

Parsley struck the purrfect post on the lawn the other evening, and yes, he is in his bulking phase!!! MOL

Finally this week

Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick

This week, Melvyn is modelling the first bandana of July.

A tabby‑and‑white cat sits on a wooden surface beside a window, wearing a colourful tropical bandana decorated with flowers and parrots. Two small glass containers shaped like light bulbs, each holding a succulent plant, sit next to the cat. Sunlight streams through the window, illuminating the cat and plants, with a lush green garden visible outside.

He loves the parrot bandana, and speaking of birds, he also loves a bit of birdwatching from this purrticular spot, but says the catservatoy is like a heated goldfish bowl without the water at the moment! MOL

Yep, it's totally off limits during the daytime, and only gets opened after the P.A. has aired it out at dusk.

Several butterflies in vivid colours flutter above the dense blooms, creating a lively, cheerful meadow scene. The overall look is vibrant and full of movement, evoking a warm July day in nature.

Which one should he model next?

Here's the July Bandana collection, and we chose another really fun selection for mew this time.

And we've decided to give mew six to choose from, even though we only needed five!!!

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up **NOT ONE BUT TWO SQUIRRELS!!!** ~ Fudge in BBHQ's Most Favourite Tree Ever, Parsley Chilling On A Millwheel, and C.J. Catkin - The OG ~ **PLUS** Melvyn's Modelling

A colourful collage featuring seven cats lined up in front of stylised newspaper backdrops with the word “NEWS” repeated behind them. At the top left, a cat appears to shout beside a speech bubble that says “EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!”. Bright pink and blue flowers sit below the cats, with blue‑and‑white stripes and pink starbursts in the background. The central text reads “Midweek News Round Up with The B Team,” with “©BionicBasil®” at the bottom.
This week at BBHQ: soaring temperatures, two fearless squirrels, Fudge in the favourite tree, Parsley on the millwheel, Melvyn’s bandana of the week, and the rediscovered story of Catkin - the legendary cat who once protected the P.A. from a midnight break‑in.

Furbulous Greetings Supurr Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Happy Wednesday, furbulous furiends, and thank mew so much for dropping by. Pull up a chair, get comfortable, and let’s dive into what’s been happening at BBHQ over the last few days.

OMC, THE WEATHER!!!

Yep, let's talk about the weather report, because since last week's news it's got warmer and warmer, and now it's pawsitively scorchio. Apparently, going outside is dangerous due to spontaneous combustion, as we said a couple of weeks ago:

"The UK weather peeps are predicting another supurr scorchio heatwave, allegedly, with a huge red alert starting around June 19th/20th with highs of 34C in certain places - so prepare for instantaneous combustion like a vampire in sunlight from that date - we'll believe it when we see it."

We believe it now! MOL

The dates are a little behind; today is the 23rd, and right now in Mewton-Clawson, if mew're a vampire, mew're basically toast, it's that warm, and the real feel is 34C - not good if mew're wearing a fur coat, so we are all banned from garden pawtrols. The blinds are shut, the fans are on, and Melvyn is reclining on the bed with the air con happening.

He says, and I quote, "I just luffs the cool breeze ruffling my fur!"

MOL MOL MOL

Anyhoo, we're nice and cool, so that's a win, and maybe later today we'll get to go on a little pawtrol as this has been happening while we've been inside.

🐿️ Wildlife Watch: TWO Squirrels?!

Not one, but two squirrels in the BBHQ garden!

Two squirrels forage on a gravelled ground near a tree trunk while two black birds stand close by, watching them. Green plants and a wooden fence form the background, creating a lively little wildlife scene with both species sharing the same space.

Look at the cheeky fluffers, with absolutely no fluffs whatsoever to give ... they were happily foraging with the magpies and jackdaws, like this is just another Tuesday, well, it is Tuesday, but that's besides the point! MOL

The P.A. thought there was only one, and then BOOM #2 turned up. They're having a great time mingling, getting to know all the birds, enjoying the various watering holes around BBHQ, and generally living their best life.

And so it goes, more wildlife at BBHQ, it's the garden that just keeps giving!

And just look at this, this is our all-time favourite tree at BBHQ, the P.A. planted it nearly two decades ago. She rescued it, it was being disposed of, and the garden centre peeps said, "Here, if you want it, take it."  So she did.

A large, lush acacia tree stands on a gravelled area, its dense chartreuse green foliage forming a wide, rounded canopy. Behind the tree, rooftops with red tiles peek through, and the sky glows with soft sunset colours blending pink, orange, blue, and purple. A red K6 Telephone Box is partially visible on the left side of the image. The scene feels calm and picturesque, highlighting BBHQ’s favourite tree. www.bionicbasil.com

It is utterly magnificent. Its chartreuse leaves undulate in the breeze like rippling waves; it's amazing to watch, literally mesmerising.

And many of mew know that this is the tree that many of us love to climb, Fudge especially when he wants roof access! MOL (See the first news story below! MOL)

The flowers, when they bloom in late May, smell like frangipani, oh so tropical, they last about a week, and then they're gone. They look like creamy white wisteria, long, dramatic flowers, absolutely stunning.

Guess what, when the P.A. was walking under it the other day, she saw seed pods for the very first time, yep, mew know what's happening next, don't mew? MOL

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.

First up in the news this week

Fudge in BBHQ's Most Favourite Tree Ever

An orange tabby cat named Fudge sits perched on a sturdy tree branch, partially hidden among dense, bright green leaves. His wide eyes look directly toward the camera, creating a striking contrast between his orange fur and the lush foliage surrounding him. The scene feels playful and natural, capturing Fudge exploring BBHQ’s favourite acacia tree.

Yep, the ginger ninja of BBHQ had to show mew his elite climbing skills! MOL

Next up in the news

Parsley Chilling On A Millwheel

A black cat named Parsley lounges on a stone millwheel outdoors, his yellow‑green eyes looking calmly toward the camera. He wears a small purple bell on his collar. Behind him are a wooden bench, green plants, and part of a building with a red roof, all softly lit in natural daylight. The scene feels peaceful, capturing Parsley relaxing in one of his favourite BBHQ spots.

Parsley loves to lounge on the millwheels, he says, and I quote, "it's really cool on the tummy fur!" MOL

A total zen master!

In Other News

 C.J. Catkin - The OG

A black‑and‑white cat named C.J. Catkin stands on a dark blue carpet, looking directly at the camera with wide, bright eyes. His coat has a bold pattern with a black back, tail, and upper head, while his chest, lower face, and legs are white. Soft blue fabrics in the background create a cosy indoor setting. This photo, taken in 1997, shows Cat’s very first cat — the original BBHQ legend.

Mew're probably wondering who this is, it's C.J. Catkin, the P.A.'s very first cat. This was taken in 1997 when he decided the P.A. was suitable to be cat staff! MOL

Seriously, though, we found this by complete accident as OneDrive decided to connect itself - it's always turned off as we detest it - anyhoo, it's synced things and completely fluffed up all the files on the PC, a total nightmare that will take weeks, days and hours and hours to sort out. However, finding this picture of him was more than a silver lining!

Mew can read how he saved the P.A. from a home invasion, way, way, way back in 2000. Yep, mew couldn't make it up!

Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick

This week mew voted for The Mice Cream bandana, and Melvyn loved it!

A white‑and‑tabby cat named Melvyn sits on a dark kitchen countertop wearing a colourful “Mice‑Cream” bandana decorated with ice‑cream cones and popsicles. The modern kitchen behind him features light cabinets, a tiled backsplash, and stainless‑steel appliances. Soft natural light comes through a window, highlighting Melvyn’s bright eyes and the playful pattern on his bandana. www.bionicbasil.com

He rocked the catwalk this week; it must have been the thought of snacks to finish! MOL

We adore the colours in this one and think Melvyn models it purrfectly.
