The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up **BLACK TULIPS & RAINBOWS!!!** ~ Fudge Says - NOPE, Smooch Chillaxing Under the Gazebo, and Parsley Inspects The Lawn ~ **PLUS** Melvyn's Modelling

**Alt Text:** A colourful collage shows ten cats lined up in a row, each with different fur patterns and expressions. Behind them is a decorative backdrop of pink cherry blossoms, pastel bunting, and newspaper‑style graphics. Bold text in the centre reads “Midweek News Round Up with The B Team @BionicBasil.” In the top right, a cat with its mouth open appears to shout, with a speech bubble saying “EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!” The bottom edge is framed with pink and white flowers.

 Epic Greetings Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up ~ your weekly dose of kitty chaos, garden goodness, and countryside curiosities!

Happy Wednesday, gorgeous furiends, and thanks so much for dropping by. Settle in, get comfy, and let’s dive into what’s been happening at BBHQ this week.

Let's start with the weather report; it got very warm last Friday, which continued into Caturday and Sunday, then late Monday it went supurr overcast, at the time of typing this, and we got about eight really chubby drops of rain. Then it dropped 7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday with grey clouds and an unpleasant breeze. Good news though, later in the week it may, and I say this loosely, may get warmer - here's hoping!

What's the weather report where mew are right now?

And finally these are the black tulips we mentioned last week, well we say black, in reality they are very, very deep purple, but we think they're black.

Dark purple, almost black tulips bloom along a garden pathway, surrounded by lush green foliage and scattered blue flowers. The paved path winds through the vibrant garden toward an open area with plants, garden lights, and a large pot. Trees, shrubs, and part of a house with a red‑tiled roof appear in the background, creating a rich spring garden scene. “copyright www.bionicbasil.com” appears at the bottom.

And here's the frilled version, although they look a very deep red/burgundy, but in real life they look pretty black.

Two deep burgundy, almost black tulips with frilled, ruffled petals stand in a garden bed, their surfaces dotted with water droplets. Green foliage surrounds them, with a hedge, a brick wall, and part of a wooden structure in the background. The rich colour and textured petals make the flowers striking and dramatic. “copyright www.bionicbasil.com” appears at the bottom

There are still a few more to pop around the garden so we'll share those soon.

Oh we have to show mew this, from the 17th April, we missed it last week, but just look at that rainbow ... it was a double but even a digital camera couldn't capture the meauty of it!

A bright rainbow arcs across a pastel sky above a quaint garden scene featuring a classic red British telephone box beside a brick building with a tiled roof. Lush green plants, trees, and a vintage-style street lamp surround the area, with a granite mill-wheel cake, partly hidden by foliage in the background. The ground is covered in gravel, creating a peaceful countryside atmosphere. “copyright www.bionicbasil.com” appears at the bottom.

And then nanny got a surprise, look at this.

A sheep stands in a grassy field beside dense green bushes, nibbling at the leaves while two small black lambs stay close by. The scene is lush and bright, suggesting a peaceful spring day. “copyright www.bionicbasil.com” appears at the bottom.

About a dozen sheep and lambs turned up to graze the meadow at the back of nanny's garden, and look closely, there are two little black lambkins, seriously they are so cute.

One of the older lambs got out on the drive the other evening, and had to be coerced back into the meadow with tasty snacks. Luckily, the drive has two gates that are always closed so it couldn't get out any further.

We still don't know how the woolly fluffer got onto the drive because the wooden, four bar fencing has wire stapled to the inside of it to prevent such escapist behaviour! MOL

Oh and here's a fun fact, Nanny used to have her own lamb when she was a child, called Hector.

And we forgot to show mew this last week, honestly it's been so busy the last four weeks, that the P.A. keeps forgetting to share stuff.

A completed jigsaw puzzle shows a group of illustrated cats with large round eyes, each wearing a brightly coloured sweater or scarf decorated with patterns like stripes, florals, and geometric designs. The cats are packed closely together, filling the entire frame in a playful, whimsical style. “www.bionicbasil.com” appears at the bottom.

So the P.A. declared a BBHQ Emergency a week last Sunday evening, aka the 19th of April.

She said and I quote. "I can't watch TV anymore, it's garbage, brain rotting fodder, and I am so over spending two hours scrolling through stuff to end up watching nothing."

I said. "Ok, what's the plan?"

She replied. "Remember that whimsy puzzle from ages ago, like 2015?"

I gave a half shrug, I didn't, but I didn't want the P.A. to think I couldn't remember. "Sure, great times!"

"Well, I'm off to puzzle, I'll be in the craft room if anypawdy needs me."

And yes, she and Cat Dad headed off and redid the 2015 whimsy puzzle. The next day the one in the photo above turned up, 500 pieces. Yep, it seems that it's a permanent puzzle pawty at BBHQ as she's now got two more plus one from nanny... mew know where this is going don't mew?!!!! MOL

Anyhoo let's look at the news this week...

A bright spring border made of lush green grass topped with alternating pink and white tulips, accented by small yellow flowers. Taller blades of grass rise behind the blooms, creating a fresh, cheerful, garden‑themed decorative frame.

First up in the news this week...

Fudge Says - NOPE

A fluffy orange tabby cat named Fudge sits on a brown carpet, looking firmly to the side with a clear expression of disapproval. Behind him is a black sofa, a white door, and two pet bowls on the wooden floor. His posture and stern gaze perfectly match the caption “Fudge Says – NOPE,” adding humour to the BBHQ Midweek News Round‑Up ©BionicBasil®.

So Fudge had a bit of a 'wig' on (slang for slightly bad tempered) the other day as he wanted to go outside just as the P.A. was leaving for work.

Obviously, he wasn't allowed as there's no free roaming cats here. So when the P.A. arrived home and offered him safe passage into the courtyard via the catservatory.

He said, "NOPE!" MOL

Next up in the news...

Smooch Chillaxing Under the Gazebo

A tripawed white cat with black markings named Smooch lounges fully stretched out on a cosy couch, resting against soft beige and rust‑orange cushions. One paw is extended while the other is tucked beneath him, giving a relaxed, contented vibe. The serene pose matches the title “Smooch Chillaxing Under the Gazebo” for the BBHQ Midweek News Round‑Up ©BionicBasil®.

Smooch got himself stretched out on the sofa under the gazebo on Caturday. He was waiting for the freshly washed throws to be put on the seat cushions... yes, he loves being first on the clean blankys! MOL

And he said. "Don't forget to tell everypawdy it's my birthday on Friday, we're kicking off early so teleport in anytime as it's going to be a spectacular start to the pawty season!"

There mew have it, don't be late on Friday! MOL

A bright spring border made of lush green grass topped with alternating pink and white tulips, accented by small yellow flowers. Taller blades of grass rise behind the blooms, creating a fresh, cheerful, garden‑themed decorative frame.

In other news...

Parsley Inspects The Lawn

A sleek black cat named Parsley walks confidently across a moss infused green lawn, tail held high as he approaches the camera. Behind him is a garden filled with shrubs, plants, and a fence, creating a natural outdoor backdrop. His purposeful stride suits the title “Parsley Inspects The Lawn” for the BBHQ Midweek News Round‑Up ©BionicBasil®.

Cat dad mowed the lawn, and we use the term lawn rather loosely here at BBHQ, because for some unknown reason, this area prefers to be more moss than grass, so moss it is, oh, and clover.

Anyhoo after the moss was mown, Parsley did his inspection, and gave Cat Dad paws up for the first cut! MOL

And finally, this week

Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick

Well, mew guessed this week's bandana correctly!!! MOL

Blooming Marvellous!!!

A stylish brown, grey‑and‑white tabby cat named Melvyn stands on a jute carpet, wearing a bright pink bandana decorated with colourful flowers in yellow, blue, and white. He looks upward with a confident, model‑like pose. Part of a kitchen island and a metal furniture leg appear in the background. Text at the bottom reads “copyright www.bionicbasil.com.” The image accompanies the BBHQ Midweek News Round‑Up titled “Melvyn’s Modelling the Blooming Marvellous Bandana.”

Look at the little fluffer, doesn't he look adorbs!!!

A curved string of pastel pennant flags hangs in gentle arcs, with triangles in soft blue, pink, yellow, and green. At each peak of the curve sits a white flower with a yellow center, giving the decoration a cheerful, festive look suitable for celebrations or spring‑themed designs.

Which one should he model next?

Here's the new May collection. And yes we know there's only four Wednesday's in May, but we thought it would be fun to give mew five bandanas to choose from, and Melvyn loves this collection.

Five cat bandanas are arranged on a light wooden surface, each with a different colourful floral or patterned design. They are numbered 1 to 5, and the words “May Collection” appear across the centre in decorative white text. A copyright notice reading “copyright www.bionicbasil.com” sits at the bottom.
The May Collection:

1. Lilac with Pink Flowers

2. Purple Flowers

3. Blue Butterfly

4. Dark Cherry Blossom

5. White Cherry Blossom

Leave a comment with your top pick for next week!

That's us done for today.

Amber will NOT be back on Friday with another pawesome book, she will be here on Caturday instead, as Friday is Smooch's 15th Birthday Pawty, and mew won't want to miss that!

Interview No. 3 - Library Intern, Gadget Enthusiast, Hover‑Cart Menace (allegedly)

Vera V5.0: Melvyn, welcome to Episode 3 of WHAT THE FLUFF. Are mew prepared for your Q&A session?

Melvyn: I was ready five minutes ago, but then I found a shiny screw on the floor and got distracted. But yes! I’m ready now! MOL

Q1: Melvyn, how would mew describe your role at BBHQ?

Melvyn: I’m the Mewton-Clawson Library intern! I help Amber in the library, test Humphrey’s prototypes, organise the hover‑carts, and keep morale high with my dance moves. Also, I’m BBHQ's official supurr model for the Fashion with Felines posts. It’s a big responsibility.

Q2: What’s your favourite part of bunker life?

Melvyn: The library! Gadgets! The buttons! The hover‑carts! The replicators! The snack chute! The M‑Unit! The disco lights on Level 11! …Do I have to pick one?

Q3: What’s the most annoying part of bunker life?

Melvyn: When Humphrey says, “Don’t touch that.” Because I really want to touch it. And then I do touch it, and then I wish I'd listened to Humphrey! MOL

Q4: What’s your biggest pet peeve about the other memfurs?

Melvyn:  When they say, “Melvyn, stop spinning in the chair.” Why? The chair spins. I spin. It’s destiny. Who am I to argue with physics?

Q5: What’s your favourite spot in the bunker?

Melvyn:  The hover‑cart bay! It smells like oil, rubber, and adventure. Also, the Observation Deck is nice when Pandora lets me up there. She sometimes says I “disrupt the ambience,” whatever that means. And I love the library with Amber and the mice; it's so much fun, especially since I got my diploma last year!

Q6: What’s one thing mew wish every cat understood about mew?

Melvyn:  That I’m not trying to cause chaos. It just… happens. Things fall over. Buttons get pressed. Hover‑carts accelerate unexpectedly. Mouse Droids go rogue! It’s not my fault. Mostly.

Q7: What’s your funniest bunker moment?

Melvyn:  Oh! When I accidentally activated the “reverse gravity” setting on Humphrey’s prototype boots. I floated up to the ceiling and couldn’t get down. Basil had to poke me with a broom. Fudge said I looked like a confused helium balloon... that's rich coming from somepawdy who's tail has its own postcode!

Q8: What’s your least favourite bunker chore?

Melvyn:  Sorting the library returns. Amber says I “lack focus.” I don’t! I just get distracted by interesting book covers. And shiny bookmarks. And the snack chute. Oh, and not forgetting the stationery, who unionise and form committees faster than I can keep up!

Q9: What’s your proudest moment as part of the B Team?

Melvyn: When I helped Basil map the Nexus Spiral using the holo‑table. When he said I did “epic work.” I nearly cried. Then I tripped over a cable and unplugged the whole system. But still! The first part was epic.

Q10: What’s your message to BBHQ readers?

Melvyn:  Stay curious! Try new things! Press buttons! (But not the big red one. Basil says NO!) And thank mew so much for being here, mew make BBHQ even more epic, and the entire team and I love that mew come and hang out with us in the Basilverse.

The sequence includes a satellite dish emitting signals, a globe, a satellite, another globe, another satellite, and a second satellite dish. We hope mew enjoyed today’s feature brought to mew courtesy of Vera, the bunker A.I., who insists these interviews are “vital for operational transparency” but mostly just enjoys watching the chaos unfold.

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up **BLOOMING EPIC!!!** ~ Parsley's In The Spidery Basket, Pandora's On The Deck, and Smooch is Snoozing in The Grass ~ **PLUS** Melvyn's Modelling

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Happy Wednesday, gorgeous furiends, and thanks so much for stopping by.

What a week, it vanished in the blink of an eye. Where is the time going right now? Is it speeding up? Or is time different at BBHQ? Probably, but that aside, we ran out of it again, we managed to reply to our blog comments, got the code pasted for the Sunday Selfies, and then boom, and it was Tuesday!

Hopefully, some hops will still be open, so that's our next port of call after finishing this.

So let's start with the weather report: it's been mostly dry, with cool wind, though biting at times, and the most offensive fur-ruffling abilities. We do not recommend spending time outside in that. We have had some nice but brief sunny spells, with Sunday being the nicest day of the week so far.

But as this week progresses, it could, according to our weather app, reach a heady 19 degrees Celsius on Friday. Now that's something to look forward to! MOL

What is the weather like where mew are this week?

Oh, and here's this week's flower offering.

The Red Tulips Are Blooming Epic

A cluster of vibrant red tulips, some streaked with orange and white, blooms brightly in a garden bed. The flowers rise among lush green leaves, with a wooden fence and climbing plants forming a rustic backdrop. Small blue flowers sit near the base of the tulips, adding contrast to the vivid spring display. “copyright www.bionicbasil.com” appears at the bottom.

The reds are so vibrant, and the ones on the right look like they have been painted, honestly, nature is amazing.

We are waiting for some black frilled tulips to appear; they are only just getting going, but if the weather is warmer, we may get blooms sooner. Here's hoping!

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's news.

A bright spring border made of lush green grass topped with alternating pink and white tulips, accented by small yellow flowers. Taller blades of grass rise behind the blooms, creating a fresh, cheerful, garden‑themed decorative frame.

First up in the news this week...

Parsley's In The Spidery Basket

A black cat relaxes inside a wicker basket lined with cream fabric and filled with red blankets and a red heart‑shaped cushion. The cosy basket sits indoors near a white door with a brass latch and a window. The cat wears a collar with a small tag and looks calm and comfortable. “copyright www.bionicbasil.com” appears at the bottom.

Parsley decided to brave the spidery basket, yep, he is that brave!

If mew don't know about the spider who's living in the basket, click here to follow all the posts.

A bright spring border made of lush green grass topped with alternating pink and white tulips, accented by small yellow flowers. Taller blades of grass rise behind the blooms, creating a fresh, cheerful, garden‑themed decorative frame.

Next up in the news...

Pandora's On The Deck

Pandora was enjoying a dappled spot on the deck

She's loving it there at the moment, but I suspect that this repeated display is a subtle signal that garden furniture, preferably supurr comfy with plush throws, is needed in this space, very soon!

Or else! MOL

A bright spring border made of lush green grass topped with alternating pink and white tulips, accented by small yellow flowers. Taller blades of grass rise behind the blooms, creating a fresh, cheerful, garden‑themed decorative frame.

In other news...

Smooch is Snoozing in The Grass

A white cat with a black patch on its head rests inside a metal tub outdoors, nestled between tufts of green grass. Bright sunlight highlights the cat’s relaxed posture as it snoozes comfortably in the cosy grassy nook. “copyright www.bionicbasil.com” appears at the bottom.

Smooch was catnapping in one of his favourite spring spots.

Every year, he relishes his time napping in the pots with the ornamental grass, though he was a little hissed off, as the P.A. had just cut this one back, so it wasn't as springy as normal.

And finally, this week

Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick

It was a tie between #3 and #5, so Melvyn made the executive decision and picked #3!

Melvyn, a mostly white tabby cat with dark markings lounges on a carpeted floor, wearing a bright floral bandana decorated with pink and teal flowers. The cat is lying on its side with its front legs slightly bent and its head tilted toward the camera, looking relaxed and comfortable. “copyright www.bionicbasil.com” appears at the bottom.

Just look at him, what a little supurr model floof of furbulousness!

Also, he's requested that the P.A. make some new bandanas soon, so keep your eyes open for brand-new collections in the coming months.

Here's the April Bandana collection.

As spring is now officially here, we chose some more colourful and bright bandanas for this month.

Five colourful triangular bandanas are arranged on a light wooden surface, each with a different vibrant pattern. Designs include hot‑air balloons and animals, stylised floral motifs, large pink flowers on teal, playful pink cats on black, and a yellow‑and‑pink floral print. Text reads “The April Bandana Collection at BBHQ.

The April Collection:

1.  Ballooning with Furiends* ~ Blue

2. Spring Freshness

3. Peony Purrfection

4. Cute Pink Cats

5. Blooming Marvellous

ONE LEFT FOR NEXT WEEK!!!
