Supurr Furbulous Greetings Pawesome Pals

Thanks for joining us for Part V of our supurr fun Crafting with Cats re-run. We thought we'd get a head-start on the Valentine's Crafting, as the big day is just two weeks away, so if mew want to make anything we share over the next couple of weeks, mew should have plenty of time!

If mew missed Part I, click here to see how we made an epic heart shaped crinkle mat, and here for Part II, when we made some epic catnip hearts and kicker toys. Check out Part III for the most epic Valentine's Cat Cottage ever, and click here to see Part IV, the Best Cat Tree Glow Up ever!

If mew missed any of our previous CWC posts, stop by the Crafting with Cats Page and see all our previous projects, and mew don't have to be an expert in anything to make any of them. Plus we offer workarounds and no-sew projects for those who don't like to sew.

All Crafting with Cats ideas and creations are of our own design and we share them for purrsonal/home use only.

This time we're making these pawesome

Crafting with Cats Valentine's Special ©BionicBasil® Valentines Catnip Cookies

What We Used:

A selection of scrap pieces of felt in pale pink, hot pink, tan, white & red

Wadding/stuffing

Cotton thread in brown

scissors

pinking shears

BBHQ organic homegrown catnip

Let's get Started

Crafting with Cats Valentine's Special ©BionicBasil® How to Make Valentine's Catnip Cookies 1
1.
Our selection of leftover felt from other projects

2. We just cut the largest size hearts we could from the fabric available.

3. & 4. Then we got our pinking shears ready and cut around the edges of all the hearts to give them a fun zig-zag edge.

Crafting with Cats Valentine's Special ©BionicBasil® How to Make Valentine's Catnip Cookies 2
5.
We are ready to start sewing.

6. First topstitch the smaller heart onto the larger heart.

7. & 8.  It should look something like this. Repeat for how many cookies we are making; we made six.

Crafting with Cats Valentine's Special ©BionicBasil® How to Make Valentine's Catnip Cookies 3
9. & 10.
Next topstitch the two larger hearts around the edge, leaving a small 2.5 cm or 1" gap for stuffing and catnip. Repeat for extra cookies.

11. & 12.  Get your stuffing and catnip ready, then fill the heart cookies.

Crafting with Cats Valentine's Special ©BionicBasil® How to Make Valentine's Catnip Cookies 4
13. &
14.  We always add the catnip first, then the wadding after. And mew should now have catnip heart cookies that look like this.

15.  Stitch the gap closed.

16. And mew should now have a selection of uber epic Valentine's catnip heart cookies for your kitty!

The Finished Gift

The P.A. found a small box which she decorated with ribbon and some small wooden hearts that were leftover from our Valentine's Cottage project, and then she added some shredded paper and a small jar of our homegrown catnip with a fluffy pom pom stuck on the lid, and this is our finished gift, isn't it epically epic?

Watch the video:

or watch on YouTube

As mew can see, once the cookies were ready, they did cause a mini-riot, Smooch wanted them all, Melvyn tried to grab one, Fudge came along and ruined that! MOL

Yesterday Fudge literally sat/lay over the box to stop anypawdy else getting any, and this morning the P.A. found catnip cookies everywhere, so there'd been a bit of a pawty during the night.

The B Team want to know, which colour catnip cooking is your favourite?

And that furiends furry sadly brings us to the end of today's furbulously fun Crafting with Cats post, we do hope mew liked it. Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel as we've got lots of videos there, and some which mew might have not seen before.

Amber will be back tomorrow with another furbulous cat-centric book review just for mew, so do join us then.

Love To Read? Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library #191 featuring **The Epically Epic Pet Journal** by Cathrine Garnell PLUS Friendly Fill-Ins

Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library ©BionicBasil®

Hello gorgeous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and what a week it's been at BBHQ. We've had one storm yesterday and another one is coming in today; today's storm is coming with 100mph winds, I'm hoping it skirts around Mewton-Clawson as I really hate the wind.

This was me and Pandora on Wednesday morning going for breakfast, it was my first breakfast and Pandora's second or maybe even third! MOL

How many breakfasts do mew have at your house?

I remember Basil would sometimes have four breakfasts, and he never put any weight on, but he did spend a lot of time hunting down the field.

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. It’s about time ______________________________.
2. An anecdote I like to tell is _______________________________.
3. I wish there was a way to _________ without _________.
4. Too many people take _________ for granted.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. It’s about time I published something and finally, I have - see Amber's book review below! LOL

2. An anecdote I like to tell is; The time Basil caught a mole and left it for me as an offering in the middle of the rug in the sitting room. Or the other time he left me half a pigeon with entrails and a lot of feathers in the shower room. Not the kind of gifts I love, but you know what they say, it's the thought that counts! LOL

3. I wish there was a way to write books without typing, yes I know I could dictate it, sadly dictation doesn't work for me, but I was thinking more along the lines of thought transference, now wouldn't that be epic.

4. Too many people take time for granted. Sad but true; we never know how long we've got and time is the most valuable and precious commodity we have, spend it wisely with purrsons you love, and doing things you love.

The Epically Epic Pet Journal is ideal for any pet, and each year start a new journal and create new, amazing memories.

Amber's Book Review Mice Divider ©BionicBasil®

Well, here I am reviewing a non-fiction book created by our very own P.A., who'd have thought she would go and create an A4 sized pet journal!

When I asked her why she'd decided to create a pet journal, she replied, "Because Amber, I wish I'd had something to document my life with Basil and all our other Rainbow Bridge kitties and all the current B Team memfurs too!"

And thinking about it, I can see her point, especially when she said, "I've got thousands upon thousands of photos of you and all The B Team on my phone, iPad and computer, yet very few of them are actually printed off and displayed or are easily accessible, and I would like a way to choose my favourite pictures to display so I can pick up one of the journals and look through all the amazing memories."

As I flicked through the pages, I really liked that there were practical sections to list: vet details. groomer details, pet sitter details, insurer details and emergency numbers. But my favourite parts were the more creative pages to add your favourite selfies, epically epic moments with my human, what I did for my pawlidays, my favourite things, and the special events pages to add photos for Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter, birthday and Halloween.

And the P.A. said, "And even if your pet is already at the Rainbow Realm, you can still use the journal to create a beautiful memory book, and add all your notes, stories and pictures, so for me, I'll be creating one for Basil and the other kitties too."

The special events sections can be coloured in as well as adding supurr photos to each page.

The Epically Epic Pet Journal - Special Event Pages by Cathrine Garnell ©BionicBasil®

There are monthly sections to add your favourite selfies and epically epic moments with your human, with enough space to write the date and any other info next to the picture.

The pawliday section is especially fun for pets who travel, there are 4 separate pawliday pages, and these can be used for day trips or longer vay-cays, and for stay at home pets, mew can create your very own stay-cation photos; whether that's by making a fun picnic in the garden for example or something fun indoors, these pages are really pawesome.

The Epically Epic Pet Journal - What I Did For My Pawlidays Page by Cathrine Garnell ©BionicBasil®1

There are lined pages for making notes and writing other exciting info about the life and times of your pet, plus mew can add stickers and use coloured pens, pencils etc to really make the journal your own.

All in all, I think the P.A. did a really pawesome job on the pet journal and what's great is that it's suitable for any pet, at any age.

She's also creating a kids version without the vet, groomer, insurance and pet sitter sections, so kids can create their own journals about growing up with their pet.

At the moment, The Epically Epic Pet Journal comes in five colours with a cute printed glitter effect cover: Red, Pale Pink, Black, Teal Blue or Gold. We only have samples of the black, teal and pink - see below. They are lovely and if mew don't believe me, just ask Erin the cat Princess, she has one already!

I know mew will think I'm totally biased as it's the P.A. who created it, but it is such a nifty idea and is purrfect for anyone who loves their pets and wants to create a simple, yet really special keepsake/memory book and build up a collection year after year of unfurgettable memories. It is also a wonderful gift for any age group and for any occasion.

TOTALLY TOP PAW!

It's time for me to say BFN or bye-fur-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't furget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books
