We loved the Castlerigg Stone Circle, and even though the stones aren't as big as the ones at Stone Henge, it's still such a truly pawesome place to see, and the views, well they are just beyond words!

Here's a little bit of info from BBHQ's Historical Travel Guide, Smooch:

Hello epic travellers and history lovers!

The Neolithic Castlerigg Stone Circle is a breathtaking sight to behold. Located outside meautiful Keswick in the Lake District, this incredible site overlooks the Thirmele Valley, and to add to the drama and magnificence, the backdrop of Helvellyn and High Seat mountains adds such atmosphere and presence.

We gazed upon the 38 towering stones, some only 3.25 feet or 1 m tall and others reaching over 7.5 feet or 2.3 m in height, initially, there were 42 stones, though we don't know what happened to the missing four! The circle has a 97.5 feet or 30 m diameter, so it's pretty big. And we were in awe of the immense skill and dedication it must have taken for the ancestors to construct such a remarkable site over 5,000 years ago, or 3000 BC, in such a location on a hill.

There are various theories, but nopawdy knows for certain why the circle was built or what its purpose was. Some speculate that it was a place of spiritual or religious significance, while others believe it may have been used as an ancient astronomical observatory.

As we wandered around the circle, we felt as though we should be unravelling the mystery, and we did ponder for just a brief moment to hop in the TTTB and go back 4,500 years to see what it was really used for. But then, that would destroy the mystery and the magic, wouldn't it? MOL

Regardless of its true purpose, the Castlerigg Stone Circle stands strong and proud, a testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the industrious ancestors. Its preservation is a marvel, and we were immensely grateful for the opportunity to witness its grandeur firstpaw. We highly recommend this pawe-inspiring destination to anyone with an interest in history or a desire to experience the wonder of ancient architecture.
Plus, in the Lake District, there are so many other fantastic places to see, and maybe we will visit one of them next week!

Anyhoo it's time for us to go and check if the garden needs water, as it's been rather warm the last few days and the P.A. hasn't been watering daily, yes shame on her! And then Smooch is on lunch patrol as he waits patiently near the oven keeping an eye the progress of the delicious tasty morsel inside! MOL

This afternoon if it remains supurr warm, we'll stay inside and watch an old movie in the cool sitting room and wait until later to go outside.

Do join us again tomorrow, when we're back with another episode of Cats Have Problems Too, and check out this week's Despurrate Dilemma.

We do hope mew have an epic day, and remember to always...
