Hello gorgeous library guests
and
Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ
Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today
Many thanks for all your ameowzing purrayers, they WURKED! We didn't get flooded, it was close but it didn't get into the building, thank mew all so much for that, as the P.A. and dad are finding it really hard to keep dealing with repeated floods time aftur time in only a few months.
The storm has now moved on, and we can all breathe a huge sigh of relief for the time being.
Anyhoo, I don't know if any of mew have this purroblem; last night I was all nice, supurr snuggly and comfy on the P.A.'s knee when Smooch decided to come and wurm his furry body in. Can mew believe the nerve of him, just take a look at this!
Then he had the audacity to try and push me off, PFFFFTTTTTTTT, when I tell mew it was a close thing, it was a really close thing, but I couldn't box his ears as I would've had to move, and I was far too warm. But if he tries that kind of stunt again, there's going to fur flying!
Oh, and today I'm letting my young intern do the review, as Melvyn needs a little more experience in all things books. While it's ok for me to get him to dust the shelves, sweep the library floor and fetch and carry books, he also needs to be able to review them. Today I chose him a new book in the library, and I can't wait to see what he thinks of it.
Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. _________ is a mystery I would love to know the answer to.
2. _________ is the farthest I have ever been from home.
3. I've lost count of how many times _________.
4. _________ reminds me of _________.
The P.A.'s answers are...
1. The real story behind the pyramids and what they're really for is a mystery I would love to know the answer to.
2. New Zealand is the farthest I have ever been from home - in the U.K.
3. I've lost count of how many times I've watched some of my favourite movies, there's nothing like watching a movie that you love, and the same goes for books. I've got about 20 that I can reread and never be bored of.
4. Melvyn reminds me of Basil at times, and if he sits at a certain angle, I'd swear that it was Basil that I'm looking at. This happened a few weeks ago, and I had to do a doubletake as I really thought Basil was there, it was an unreal moment, and I can't describe for that one second how I felt, though it was truly bizarre.
Let's see what I've got to show mew this time!
This week's top book pick is...
The Quayside Cat
by
Toby Forward
Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:
Down by the harbour the quayside cat, Jim, comes to talk with Old Tregarn about his days long ago at sea. Inspired by Old Tregarn’s tales, Jim longs for his own sea adventure. Before long the two cats have jumped aboard a ship, and so begins Jim’s daring adventure at sea...
Hello pawesome library guests, Melvyn here with today's book review and what a fun book I have for mew today.
What a ripping little yarn, and OH MY COD the illustrations are absolutely epic. Jim, the cat who the star of this tale, embarks on a wonderful journey with a salty old sea-cat called Old Tregarn. It's a fun and interesting story although there were parts which were a bit hairy; I did close my eyes at one point and then I realised I had to open them to read the next sentence! MOL
It's a large size too, A4 but a tad wider so the pictures are incredibly detailed and in full colour. It was really fun to examine them more closely and discover things I'd missed during the furst read through, there were even dolphins on one page.
If mew're looking for a gift this would be purrfect, especially for younger readers like myself.
Top Paw!

Overall Enjoyment
I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.
It's time fur me to say BFN or bye-fur-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't furget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.
Until next time...
Keep calm and read more books.

I'm so glad the flood waters didn't reach you and we enjoyed your fill-in answers. Hey Melvyn, you did a really good job pal.
ReplyDeleteMelvyn, you are gettng to be an expert at doing reviews....shhh, don't let Amber hear me say that....shhhhh!
ReplyDeleteSo glad the flood waters stayed away. Pawyers that they won't be threatening again, any time soon.
Great fill ins!
I am glad that you avoided being flooded again, although after watching the news a lot of places caught it badly.
ReplyDeleteMelvyn, you did a great job with your review.
Mom said she's been flooded in a few times and it isn't nice. SO glad you all were spared. I hope those flood waters leave you alone forever.
ReplyDeleteWe are really happy the flood has receded for this year. Wow that was scary. We really think this looks like a fun book so will see what our wallets will endure
ReplyDeleteLove your fill-ins. I especially liked #4. Sometimes I think these kind of things happen because your kitty is letting you know he's okay.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the book will be a fun read. A good sea adventure with cats is the very best of adventures.
Have a purrfect day and weekend. My best to your wonderful mom. ♥
A dear friend of mine, who lost one of her cats in March 2020, tells me that he visits often, and most often, her current cat takes on the characteristics of the one that's gone! So, I believe that Angel Basil may become Melvyn, or vice versa. Isn't that cool?
ReplyDeleteWe are so glad that you guys did not get flooded! We LOVED the PA's answers to the Fill-ins, purrhaps we should let our Mom answer them sometime. And $4 is a great answer...even though NONE of us looks like Angel Nellie, we gotta tell you we see her (out of the corner of our eyes) quite often. The Book review by Amber was excellent. We have put this book on our "to Read" list! Thanks for bringing it to our attention! We hope you have a marvellously Happy Day!
ReplyDeleteI am glad everyone's prayers worked.Thank you to the PA for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I think it is nice that Melvyn reminds you of Basil sometimes. Amber, that is a great review. And Smooch does deserve a good whap for trying to move you out of your spot. Just whap him the next time you run into him in the house. :) XO
ReplyDeleteHey Melvyn, Amber and the P.A., thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you didn't end up with flooding. Smooch, you're cruising for a bruising. Hahaha! Melvyn, you did a good job of reviewing that book.
