The B Team's Blackpark Standing Stones Selfie
Here's a little bit of info from BBHQ's Historical Travel Guide, Smooch:
Welcome back to my historic travel blog, where we're going to explore the mystical and ancient Blackpark Standing Stones on the beautiful Isle of Bute. Situated in a serene and picturesque setting, these Neolithic standing stones have a history that dates back thousands of years.
The Blackpark Standing Stones are a fascinating collection of ancient stones, with a rich history and an air of mystery. Once upon a time, there were more stones in this arrangement, but only three remain standing today. The missing stones only add to the enigma and allure of this historic site. Imagine the stories these stones could tell if they could speak
These standing stones are quartz and have a glittery patina. I love sparkles! MOL It's incredible to think about the peeps who placed these stones here and the purpose they served. Some believe that these stones were used for rituals, ceremonies, or even as astronomical markers. The true purpose remains a tantalising mystery, adding to the allure of this ancient site.
As mew stand among the remaining three stones, mew can't help but feel a sense of pawe and wonder at the history and significance of this place. The rugged beauty of the Isle of Bute provides a stunning backdrop to these ancient relics, creating a truly unforgettable experience.
Visiting the Blackpark Standing Stones is like stepping back in time and connecting with the ancient past. It's a place where history comes alive, and where the whispers of the past can still be heard in the rustling of the wind through the surrounding trees. If mew ever find yourself on the Isle of Bute, make sure to pay a visit to these remarkable standing stones and immerse yourself in their timeless mystique.

ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely place for a selfie, and your art is lovely too.
ReplyDeleteI love that setting. I wonder though, what it would have looked like back in the day when they were being used?
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, and look forward to your next destination . . .

Smooch, do you know if only three stones were actually;y places when they were or...were they removed by people who came upon them. Made from Quartz, My Mom who is gemstone rough collector and accumulator would have been sorely tempted-- but would never in truth, ever disturb anything historical. Thank you too, Smooch for providing the listing of the places where standing stones are. I missed a good ten of them andI am vitally interested. Now I can go back and see what you found for us. XXXOOO
