The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up **LOVELY LOBELIAS** ~ Kerfuffle in The Catservatory, Parsley's Rolling in Clover, and Fuzzy Focus Fudge ~ **PLUS** A New BBHQ Bunker!!! MOL

Seven cats sit together in a colourful garden filled with flowers, butterflies, and festive bunting. Behind them are scattered newspapers and a large banner that reads “Midweek News Round Up with the B Team.” One cat on the left has its mouth open as if shouting, next to a speech bubble that says “EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!” The scene is bright, playful, and lively, with each cat displaying different fur colours and patterns. The overall design feels cheerful and whimsical, like a fun feline news announcement.
This week at BBHQ: lobelias, clover rolls, Catservatory mischief, fuzzy Fudge, and a surprise bunker upgrade.
A vibrant summer garden scene filled with colourful wildflowers in shades of yellow, pink, purple, blue, and red. Butterflies in various colours flutter above the dense blooms, creating a lively, cheerful meadow atmosphere. The composition is bright, lush, and full of movement, evoking a warm July day in a flourishing garden.

Supurr Floofy Greetings Pawesome Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Happy Wednesday, and thank mew so much for dropping by. Pull up a chair, get comfortable, and let’s dive into what’s been happening at BBHQ over the last few days.

The Weather Report

Well, what a week! It got hotter again, then cooled briefly on Caturday, then got hotter again on Sunday. Monday it cooled again just a smidge; Tuesday it warmed up again to 29 Celsius; today is supposed to be 33 Celsius, and tomorrow 37 Celsius.

What the fluff is going on? English summers are usually rainy, wet, more rain, a smidge of sunshine, a glimmer of heat for about 1 to 2 hours if we're lucky on any given day, and then that would have rainy showers in the 1 to 2 hour time slot too! MOL

It's been a relentless heatwave, and now we've got a bet running that this winter will be the coldest on record, and record snowfalls!

Anyhoo, let's keep calm, keep cool and carry on!

This Week's Flower Offering

A tall stem of vivid red lobelia flowers rises from dark green foliage, each blossom shaped like a delicate star and glowing brightly in the sunlight. Around it, a mix of pink and yellow garden blooms softens the background, along with leafy greenery, paving stones, and a wooden post that hint at a well‑tended outdoor space. The scene highlights the striking contrast between the intense red flowers and the surrounding colours, capturing the vibrant beauty of the lobelias in the BBHQ garden during the Midweek News Round‑Up.

This lovely lobelia was part of the plant haul the P.A. got the other week, when she suddenly found her car pulled into the garden centre carpark by an invisible tractor beam; well, she said gravitational pull, and before she knew what had happened, her car boot was full of flowers.

She still denies being complicit in this particular plant haul; she has no memory of using the credit card even though the charges are on the statement. She says she has no solid, tangible memory of the event until she was back on the country lane heading towards BBHQ.

Now, knowing the P.A. as we do, we know one of two things actually happened: the first being, her recollection is actually true, yep, weird stuff happens to her all the time, or she's just playing silly buggers to justify taking Parsely's credit card to meautify the BBHQ gardens - we're leaning towards the latter! (But we'll let her think that we think it's the former! MOL MOL)

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.

First up in the news this week

Kerfuffle in The Catservatory

Three cats gather around a green leaf‑shaped play mat decorated with printed water droplets, a cartoon snail, and a ladybird, with a white control panel in the centre. On the left, Smooch lounges on a striped rug, watching the toy with focused curiosity. At the bottom right, Pandora sits close to the mat, alert and ready to pounce. At the top right, Melvyn reclines while keeping an eye on the action. The cosy Catservatory setting captures a lively moment of feline intrigue as the trio crowd around the interactive mat during the BBHQ Midweek News Round‑Up.

Smooch, ever the picture of innocence, the classic - it's nothing to do with me look, while Melvyn and Pandora waited for the feather tickler to make it around to their side under the leaf... what Smooch didn't tell them was, his paw is on said feather tickler, and said tickler is not going anywhere! MOL

Just another Tuesday at BBHQ!!! MOL MOL MOL

Next up in the news

Parsley's Rolling in Clover

Parsley, a sleek black cat with bright green eyes, lies stretched out on a lush patch of garden grass, one paw extended toward the camera as if reaching out playfully. Sunlight filters through surrounding bushes and trees, casting warm highlights across his dark fur and creating a vivid contrast with the vibrant greenery. Behind him, white and red flowers add soft pops of colour to the peaceful garden setting. The scene captures Parsley mid‑roll, relaxed and content, enjoying a moment of clover‑filled bliss during the BBHQ Midweek News Round‑Up.

Parsley found the one bit of lawn that doesn't look like scorched earth and weeds - this is under the trees near the back patio, just a sliver across the corner of what a lawn should look like and the only reason it's survived is that it's full of micro clover and in the shade.

The P.A. is still traumatised by the acute lawn failure, aka A.L.F. ~ she's not going to get over it any time soon... We're going to have a word with Cat Dad and see if maybe we can do something!

Fuzzy Focus Fudge

Fudge, an orange tabby cat, lies stretched out on a round stone surface in a garden, his fur softly blurred by the shallow focus of the image. Lush greenery surrounds him, with leafy branches and clusters of purple flowers framing the scene and adding depth and colour. Sunlight filters gently through the foliage, creating a calm, natural atmosphere as Fudge relaxes outdoors, perfectly capturing the serene mood of his BBHQ Midweek News Round‑Up moment.

Fudge was enjoying lounging on the millwheel the other evening, and the P.A. snuck up on him and snapped this! MOL

He looks a proper fuzzy floof!

Today's Really Random Photo

We got a tiny upgrade to the bunker! MOL

A tabby cat, Wing Commander stands confidently outside the fortified BBHQ bunker, wearing a red beret and black armour fitted with gear and insignia. Behind him rises the upgraded headquarters building, marked with a large winged paw‑print emblem and topped with antennae, with a matching flag flying nearby. The scene is set against rolling countryside hills and a warm sunset sky, blending military‑style fantasy with a dramatic, heroic atmosphere as Basil guards the entrance to BBHQ.

How cool is this? Deezel, the badger, did a bit of terraforming and built us a new entrance, and very thoughtfully we planted mature trees, so the P.A. can't see it... much, and her garden aesthetic is fine. Well, mostly fine... probably!

We think he did a great job, and guess what? No planning permission was needed! MOL

That's us done for today. Melvyn will be here on Friday, so do join us then, as he's dealing with an oddity that fell from the sky, and we know mew want to know what the fluff it is! MOL

Each memfur sits down for a no‑holds‑barred interrogation … err… sorry interview with Vera V5.0, the BBHQ Bunker A.I., answering the questions mew didn’t know mew needed answers to.

💬 Expect:

🙀 Outrageous confessions

🛡️ Tactical brilliance

🧠 Floofy wisdom

💥Possibly a few hairballs

🐾 In today’s feature: Smooch

The tactical floof of the B Team, garage daredevil, unregulated broadcaster, and BBHQ’s unofficial Snack Diplomacy Liaison.

What really happened during the bazooka‑slug incident?

Why does the vending machine keep producing romantasy chapters starring emotionally compromised biscuits?

And does Smooch regret popping all four tyres on the Red Peril in under twelve seconds… or is he still insisting it was “a tactical victory”?

Keep reading for Smooch’s full Q&A ~ and prepare to say “Oh fluff!” at least once!!! MOL

🐾 Interview No. 7 ~ Tactical Floof Specialist, Garage Menace, Unofficial Snack Negotiator (allegedly)

Vera V5.0: Smooch, welcome to Episode 6 of WHAT THE FLUFF. Are mew prepared for your Q&A session?

Smooch: Always. I’ve got my tactical harness, my emergency biscuits, and a purrfectly reasonable explanation for everything Basil thinks I’ve done.

Q1: Smooch, how would mew describe your role at BBHQ?

Smooch: Officially? Tactical Floof Specialist. Unofficially? The cat who gets sent to “check the garage,” “calm the vending machine,” or “deal with it before Basil sees.” I also hosted the Behind the Floof podcast, which apparently counts as “community morale maintenance.”

Q2: What’s your favourite part of bunker life?

Smooch: The garage. The Red Peril and the smell of tyres that know they’re about to have an epically bad day.

Also, the vending machine writes stories now. Surprisingly good ones, they come free with every snack.

Q3: What’s the most annoying part of bunker life?

Smooch: The alarms. Especially the “Snack Cupboard Breach” alarm; it goes off if mew think about biscuits too loudly. Also, Gregory’s mop keeps giving me judgmental looks. I don’t know what I did. Probably something.

Q4: What’s your biggest pet peeve about the other memfurs?

Smooch: They keep saying I “cause chaos.” I don’t cause chaos; I respond to situations with enthusiasm.

There’s a difference. Also, Basil confiscates my tools. Parsley films everything. Fudge blames me for things I didn’t do. Mostly.

Q5: What’s your favourite spot in the bunker?

Smooch: The garage, obviously. Specifically, the exact patch of floor where I popped all four tyres on the Red Peril in under 12 seconds. Parsley still owes me for that bet.

Q6: What’s one thing mew wish every cat understood about mew?

Smooch: I’m not reckless; I’m efficient. If something needs dealing with, I deal with it.

If a slug forms a committee, I escalate. If a cupcake looks suspicious, I investigate. It’s tactical logic.

Q7: What’s your funniest bunker moment?

Smooch: The bazooka‑slug incident. I asked for beer and a saucer. I was handed a bazooka.

I adapted. The vegetable garden didn’t. Gregory filed a complaint titled “Emotional Collateral in Root Vegetable Warfare.” Basil still sighs when he walks past the crater.

Q8: What’s your least favourite bunker chore?

Smooch: Filling out incident reports. Amber insists on “proper formatting.”

Gregory’s mop insists on “emotional accuracy.” I insist on “minimal paperwork.” We disagree.

Q9: What’s your proudest moment as part of the B Team?

Smooch: Hosting Behind the Floof. Ten episodes of bunker life, snack diplomacy, and tactical honesty.

I made BBHQ feel heard, even when things got… dramatic. Oh, and then there's the classified stuff I can't talk about!!!

Q10: What’s your message to BBHQ readers?

Smooch: Snack wisely. Drive responsibly-ish. Never underestimate a slug with ambition. Battle Snorrgs are more work than mew can imagine. And if mew hear a tyre pop behind me… no mew didn’t.

And don't ever tell Basil about stuff he doesn't need to know about...

The sequence includes a satellite dish emitting signals, a globe, a satellite, another globe, another satellite, and a second satellite dish. We hope mew enjoyed today's feature brought to mew courtesy of Vera, the bunker A.I., yep, it was her idea, to interrogate, sorry, ask us these questions! MOL

🐾 Next up in the WHAT THE FLUFF hot seat: Posie

Expect Rainbow Realm protocols, celestial nap zones, diplomacy with glitter‑based lifeforms, and at least one incident involving an overly enthusiastic cloud sprite. And absolutely no mention of the time she accidentally re‑tuned the bunker’s ambient lighting to “Eternal Sunrise.”

And not forgetting… the Rainbow Realm Couriers (wherever they’ve drifted to this week).

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Happy Wednesday, and thank mew so much for dropping by. Pull up a chair, get comfortable, and let’s dive into what’s been happening at BBHQ over the last few days.

The Weekly Weather Report

It got hot again, not supurr scorchio, but sweaty, humid, sticky fur hot. So we all stayed indoors near the fans and air conditioning.

Mew know it's no fun having a fur coat when it's an inferno outside. Oh, but we did remember this from ages ago:

So guess what we had again!!! MOL

Anyhoo, we're still in the midst of a warm spell with: 27 C Monday, 29 C yesterday, and today it's supposed to cool to 23C, but then climb again early next week.

Yep, it's been a really odd summer so far.

This Week's Flower Offering

A vibrant dahlia blooms in rich shades of deep red blending into bright orange at the petal tips. Its dark maroon centre is ringed with tiny yellow pollen structures, framed by matte dark‑green leaves and a small unopened bud. The close‑up captures the striking colour gradient and intricate detail of this discerning BBHQ dahlia.

Remember we mentioned that the P.A.'s car was pulled by some unseen gravitational force into the garden centre on Sunday? (No, it wasn't really - she just can't help herself!!! MOL)

Anyhoo, this is one of the incredible dahlias she bought. She wasn't planning on buying any more this year as the garden was pretty full last year, but the heat hasn't boded well for them, so here we are again. As dahlias are very thirsty and obviously there hasn't been any rain...

She bought some other fun plants too, which we'll show mew next time.

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines ~ there's a lot of snuggling happening today! MOL

Today's Really Random Feature

Oh, we did laugh and laugh and laugh at this!

Two cats sit in a glitter‑covered camouflage off‑road vehicle, ready to head out for a picnic. The orange‑and‑white cat in the passenger’s seat wears round sunglasses and rests a paw on the door, while the torti cat beside her sports heart‑shaped sunglasses as she sits in the drivers seat. A flower‑trimmed wicker basket and decorative parasol sit in the back of the rugged vehicle. They face a stone gate marked “Paws Only,” surrounded by greenery and blooms, creating a playful, adventurous scene as Amber and Pandora set off for their picnic.

Yes, Pandora does own a custom, sparkly camo jeep. Yes, there is a garden parasol open in the back, a wicker hampurr or three from Purrtnam & Meowson's, and everything else needed for a truly decadent picnic! MOL

She promised to take Amber on a pre-jolly picnic, aka P.J.P., before Amber departed on her annual vacation.

So off they went down to a lovely spot by the river next to the huge willow trees, where the swans live. There's a small wooden dock with a rowing boat and a punt moored all summer, if the mood strikes for messing about on the river! MOL

It's only about a quarter of a mile off-road over an undulating meadow filled with wildflowers and surrounded by majestic oaks.

Let me tell mew what was in the hampurr:

Chilled Dom Purrignom finest catnip champagne (More than one bottle, I must add)

Tiny china teacups filled with cream

A selection of supurr tasty finger sandwiches

A selection of catnip liqueur-glazed fruits

A plate of smoked salmon & tuna canapés alongside the sandwiches

In one of the hampurrs was a selection of puddings, including

Epic chocolate brownies with catnip sprinkles & Catnip-infused cherry slices

From the Nip and Nom Tea Shoppe, no less! MOL

Plus specials made by the owner, Muriel Meeps

Honey‑Glazed Cream Puffs with Catmint Crème

Nip‑Soaked Strawberry & Cream Mille‑Paw‑Feuille

Velvet Mousse Chocolat à la Mewton‑Clawson

Two cats wearing sunglasses lounge on plush velvet cushions around an ornate outdoor picnic table set beside a calm lake where swans glide in the background. The table is piled high with elegant treats, crystal glasses, flowers, and a large bottle of champagne. A lace‑patterned parasol shades the luxurious spread, while a flower‑decked off‑road vehicle and picnic baskets sit behind them, creating a whimsical, high‑end pre‑jolly‑picnic scene with Pandora and Amber.

As mew can see, they were in their element!

This is the only way to picnic in Mewton-Clawson

However, much later on, Parsley and Fudge did have to go and collect them as they got stranded on the punt and couldn't get back to the wooden dock, one too many glasses of champers.

Fudge said later he could hear them cackling with laughter from the middle of the river.

Although Amber denied it vehemently!

That's us done for today. Melvyn will be here on Friday, so do join us then, as he's headed into the library archive on Level Six, and this week there's talk of uprisings, and we're not sure how he's going to cope, so don't miss that! MOL
