The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up **SNOWMAGGEDON HORROR COMING SOON - Allegedly** ~ Parsley's Flat Out, Fudge's Back on The Cat Shelves, and Smooch's in The Craft Room ~ **PLUS** Melvyn's Modelling

Whimsical digital collage titled “Midweek News Round Up with The B Team ©BionicBasil®.” Ten cats with varied fur patterns sit in a row at the bottom, each with distinct expressions. Behind them are illustrated elements including newspapers, trees, and a frosty blue sky adorned with bunting flags, evoking a winter garden theme. Pawesome Greetings Furbulous Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Firstly, apologies for missing the last two weeks of blog hops; it's been stupid busy at the P.A.'s work, leaving no time for fun stuff. We've barely got the posts out on time. In fact, I think one was late. So, sorry about that. We're endeavouring to introduce new protocols so the P.A. can do what we employ her for! MOL

The weather. Well, we have had a few days of intermittent sunshine, which has been nice. The temperature is averaging mid to high single digits and just above freezing at night. So quite tolerable for this time of year. Though, and here comes the but, the weather experts are saying that a wall 765-ish miles wide is coming to swathe the UK in a snow horror fest of epic snowmaggedon proportions... sooooooon... sounds utterly dreadful, let's hope they are wrong!

Moving on...

Strange things have been happening in the BBHQ office.

Melvyn's Moving Chair

Melvyn, a brown, black, and white tabby cat, lounges contentedly on a gray cushioned chair draped with a fluffy cover. His relaxed pose exudes comfort in a cozy indoor space. Behind him, a white radiator adds warmth to the scene, while a pink cat tree with a toy mouse and a blue circular toy nearby hint at feline fun. To the left, a pink fluffy cushion rests atop a wicker basket, completing the snug and pet-friendly setting. at www.bionicbasil.com

This is the new chair the P.A. bought the other week. Melvyn was never interested in the office chair before, but when this one arrived, wow, he took ownership. But here's the thing: if the P.A. goes to the office and Melvyn's in this chair, she'll roll it down towards the cat tree and use the old chair instead.

Melvyn thinks this is the best game ever! MOL

MODELLING SECRETS REVEALED

Last week, there were a couple of comments about how the P.A. gets Melvyn to walk up and down the kitchen rug, sorry, 'catwalk' - the wand toy, is not the usual way.

What happens is this: the P.A. puts the bandana on BBHQ's next top model, and she runs to the other end of the kitchen and whistles him; he'll trot along, etc. Then she runs back the other way, and he usually bounds after her.

Sometimes, when he's not feeling model-ish, treats are used as bribes... oh yes, the P.A. will sink to that level if required. Melvyn loves it because it means more treats for him! MOL

And that's how it's done.

Right, let's take a look at what else has been happening at BBHQ in the last week.
The Midweek News Round Up Divider A symmetrical botanical illustration featuring lush greenery, white flowering plants, and vibrant red and white blossoms. Small animals like rabbits nestle among the foliage, while a bird perches in the center foreground. The scene is rich in texture and color, set against a soft, natural background, creating a peaceful and enchanting garden atmosphere—ideal as a decorative post divider for nature-themed or whimsical content.

First up in the news

Parsley's Flat Out

Parsley, an all-black cat with a sleek coat, lies curled on a woven textured rug with his front legs stretched out in a relaxed pose. A fringed blanket is partially visible beside him, and the background includes a tiled floor and a dark fixture, possibly a fireplace. The indoor lighting casts a cozy glow over the serene scene. at www.bionicbasil.com

Parsley was flat out in the sitting room, the woodburner was lit, and he was loving the heat, well, totally tropical vibes.

Fudge's Back on The Cat Shelves

Fudge, a ginger tabby cat, lounges effortlessly on a curved maroon cat shelf mounted to a rustic brick wall in the BBHQ Catservatory. His body is stretched out in full relaxation, with one front paw draped casually over the edge. The warm tones of the bricks and the elevated perch create a cozy, sunlit retreat that perfectly suits his laid-back charm. at www.bionicbasil.com

Fudge was back in the catservatory on his favourite shelf, he was watching the birds at the feeders.

We know he was thinking, how tasty they looked! MOL

Smooch's in The Craft Room

Tripawed Smooch, a white cat with black markings and only three legs, sits upright on a black and beige cat tree in the cozy craft room. His tongue peeks out slightly, adding a touch of cheeky charm. Behind him, the room is filled with warm, lived-in details—furniture, a framed picture, and a flower arrangement—creating a homely backdrop for this candid and expressive moment. at www.bionicbasil.com

Smooch went into the craft room the other day, because the P.A. was looking to fix up these two cat scratchers, so he sat on one and started giving expert advice - yep - expert! MOL

The P.A. was truly fascinated as she asked how she was going to make that happen. Smooch replied that it wasn't his department and to have fun, oh, and by the way, is there any catnip out here?

The catwalk strut was supurr quick this week and miraculously without incident. Even the invisible monster, aka W.D.G., was missing, like totally missing.

Melvyn reckons he might have gone on a vacation, but he's not sure. We'll let mew know if he appears anywhere.

Pawesome Greetings Furbulous Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Oh, good gravy, the weather. The weather peeps were forecasting snowmaggedon for Thursday last week, with a temperature of minus ten. We'd already had a smattering of the white stuff a few days earlier and thought, OH MY COD, not again!

Anyhoo, mew'll never believe this, it snowed everywhere but stopped just short of the P.A.'s work and never made it down to BBHQ. A mile from work, it snowed a lot, so we had a lucky escape, as most people were stuck. Thank COD, it missed us!

A dramatic nighttime scene featuring a radiant full moon casting vivid beams of light downward through a clear, star-speckled sky. In the foreground, leafless trees and dense bushes are softly illuminated by the moonlight, creating a mystical and serene atmosphere. The interplay of shadow and light evokes a sense of quiet wonder beneath the celestial glow. At www.bionicbasil.com

We just had to share another photo of the full moon from earlier this month.

Anyhoo, let's look at the news!

First up in the news

 Fudge's Leap of Faith

Fudge the fluffy ginger cat balances on a leafless tree branch above a tiled roof strewn with dry leaves and pine needles. His body is tense and focused, eyes locked downward as if preparing to leap. The wintry setting and elevated perch add a sense of daring and feline agility to the moment. At www.bionicbasil.com

Yep, mew are not seeing things! MOL

Fudge was up the tree like a cat possessed the other day, and he was weighing up whether the roof was safe to jump on, as it was a bit green.

Honestly, never has there been a cat at BBHQ who loved getting up high, luckily the P.A. managed to bribe him down with a bag of Dreamies! MOL

 Smooch's Covert Oppurration

Smooch, a white cat with black markings, who's a tripawed feline, rests on a pink blanket atop a wooden windowsill. Only the lower half of his body is visible behind closed window blinds, with one leg and his tail extended outward. The cosy indoor scene captures Smooch’s relaxed pose in an unusual hiding spot, blending humour and comfort. At www.bionicbasil.com

So this was Smooch; we're not quite sure what was going on. Our first notion was this:

A covert oppurration watching fluff knows what!

The second:

The P.A. removed all the snuggle mats around the house for washing and left only the pink one in place. We think, but we could be wrong, that he was on a call to Catline to complain bitterly about the lack of comfort in the windowsills around BBHQ! MOL

We did ask him, but he refused to confirm or deny anything.

Parsley Says NO!

Parsley a sleek black cat rests in a wicker basket lined with a rich red textured blanket. His eyes are partially closed, and his body is relaxed, exuding calm and contentment. The close-up view highlights his glossy fur and the cozy, rustic setting. At www.bionicbasil.com

As mentioned above, the P.A. was on a washing spree and wanted this blanket from the basket under the gazebo.

Parsley said, "NO!"

She asked, why?

Parsley said, "I need it right now, it's giving me great comfort, mew can wash it another day!"

Yeah, it's still not made into the laundry, so the P.A. is looking for a spare, but the thing is, they only like the red wool blanket in that basket; anything else and the basket is boycotted with extreme prejudice! #OH DEAR

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up **IT SNOWED** ~ Parsley, Pandora and Melvyn Are Unimpressed, Smooch Lounging in The Lounge, and Hanging Off The Sofa with Fudge ~ **PLUS** Melvyn's Modelling

Welcome to the first BBHQ midweek news round-up of 2026!

We hope your start to the mew year has been epic.

Let's dive straight into the Mewton-Clawson weather report, one word - UUUUUGGGGHHHHH! But seriously, it got cold, then colder, then it decided to snow and freeze everything into a winter wonderland, which looked really pretty for about three minutes from the window. But really spoiled our mood when the door was opened and we got ambushed full force by an Arctic blast, with no respect or due diligence for feline sensibilities.

Thank cod the woodburner is in full swing, at least the sitting room is totally tropical, otherwise, we'd all be having a horrid start to January! MOL

This was Monday night when the snow started, and yes, the T.T.T.B. has a mood light - well, mew wouldn't expect any less from us.

A night time winter scene featuring a traditional British red telephone booth glowing with vibrant pink light from within. Snow blankets the booth, surrounding hedge, and ground, while leafless trees stand silhouetted in the background. Streaks of falling snow add motion to the serene setting. A reflection of the booth appears on a dark surface in the foreground. The image is titled “The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® First Snow at 2026 at BBHQ,” capturing a magical moment of the season’s first snowfall at www.bionicbasil.com

And here's the full moon at 7.13 am on Sunday morning.

An early morning sky scene capturing the first full moon of 2026 on January 4th. It was shining like a glowing orb through the bare branches of leafless trees, casting a greenish lens flare. The sky is deep blue and speckled with stars, with a streak of light suggesting a passing satellite or aircraft. In the lower corner, part of a building roof is visible. The image is titled “The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® First Full Moon of 2026 – 4th January,” blending celestial wonder with a peaceful winter morning. At www.bionicbasil.com

It looks like it was nesting in the tree! MOL

Oh, and, and, and, guess what? Well, that's a rather bonkers question, because here at BBHQ, it could be anything from a wild pawty to a looping timeline, yes, we've had all that happen in the last few days! MOL

So, we'll just tell mew, we created a new page.

OH MY COD, we hear mew say, what is it?

Well, there's the thing, because the Basilverse keeps getting riotously unpredictable as each year passes, don't ask why, we didn't plan it, it's just been an organic evolution of epic chaos that seems to have a mind of its own, and it's pretty much uncontainable at this point. So we decided to create a NEW READER STARTER PAGE.

Just look at the top-left sidebar or the page navigation above. Basically, it's to give a clear, friendly starting point so mew can explore the Basilverse without getting lost at BBHQ and in the bunker’s ever‑expanding maze of adventures, mysteries, and mildly explosive side‑quests. And to stop new readers from immediately getting bewildered, bamboozled, or teleported somewhere unexpected before they’ve even met the B Team.

Do mew like it?

Also, Pandora launched a brand new post on Monday, The Monthly Meow'o'Scope, so if mew missed what's in store for January, go take a look, as every star sign is there. Well, mew know she's into all that stuff, we just saw her heading off to the Crystal Room, with a new Tarot Deck, a bag of runes, a sage stick and a travel cup of catnip tea! MOL

So yes, it’s all go here as usual. Never a dull moment at BBHQ, mew know how it is!

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's news.

First up in the news

Parsley, Pandora and Melvyn Are Unimpressed

Indoor scene featuring three cats on a woven rug in a cozy room with wooden flooring. In the foreground, a black cat (Parsley) sits facing away from the camera, observing two other cats, Melvyn, a white and brown tabby cat, and Pandora, a dark-coloured torti cat, who sit close together in the background. The atmosphere suggests a quiet moment of feline contemplation. The image is titled “The Midweek News at BBHQ ©BionicBasil® Parsley, Pandora and Melvyn Are Unimpressed at the weather,” capturing their collective disapproval of the wintry conditions outside. At www.bionicbasil.com

These three were severely unimpressed with the weather over the last few days.

Here's their conversation

Parsley (black cat in foreground): "Right, who ordered the Arctic blast? Because I’d like to return it. With claws."

Pandora (fluffy torti cat): "I stepped outside for two seconds, and my floof froze mid‑swish. I’m basically a walking icicle now."

Melvyn (white and brown tabby): "I saw snowflakes. Actual snowflakes. Falling. From the sky. Like some kind of frosty betrayal."

Parsley: "And the humans call it pretty. Pretty?! It’s a full-scale feline emergency. My paws are still recovering from last year’s frost trauma."

Pandora: "I vote we barricade the door, light the woodburner, and declare a state of bunker hibernation."

Melvyn: "Agreed. I’ve already scheduled a nap in front of the fire and cancelled all outdoor missions until spring."

Parsley: "Excellent. Operation: No Snow Shall Touch These Toe Beans is officially underway.

Smooch Lounging in The Lounge

A cozy indoor scene featuring a white cat with black markings, identified as Smooch, lounging in a wicker Christmas tree skirt turned upside down and repurposed as a comfy bed. The P.A. took down the Catmas trees, and she always leaves the smaller wicker tree skirt for a few weeks, as Smooch loves it as a bed once it's turned upside down.

The Zero Fox Given bandana is Melvyn's top pick for this week.

The P.A. replied. "Melvyn, leave that with me, I can make that happen!"

So watch this space for Melvyn's design request.

There were no distractions on the catwalk this week, except for Were-Dee-Go, aka W.D.G., the invisible monster who usually lives behind the sofa in the sitting room. However, in recent weeks, he's actually made it into the kitchen, and today, he had a new spot. Watch the video to find out where W.D.G. is this week! MOL
