The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up **More Spring Flowers & Blue Skies** ~ Fudge's Rooftop Mission, Parsley's Garden Pawtrol, and Smooch Got The New Rug First ~ **PLUS** Melvyn's Modelling

**Alt Text:** A colourful collage shows ten cats lined up in a row, each with different fur patterns and expressions. Behind them is a decorative backdrop of pink cherry blossoms, pastel bunting, and newspaper‑style graphics. Bold text in the centre reads “Midweek News Round Up with The B Team @BionicBasil.” In the top right, a cat with its mouth open appears to shout, with a speech bubble saying “EXTRA! EXTRA!  Epic Greetings Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

As mew can see, we've moved on from the St Paddy's Day festivities of recent days, so don't expect any leprechauns, rainbows or pots of gold to unexpectedly appear, although given the nature of things at BBHQ, all of the aforementioned could actually pop up anytime! MOL

Right, let's begin with the weather. Last week's news mentioned that it had remained dry with a few light drizzles. This week, no drizzles whatsoever, in fact, it has been intermittently sunny with dark clouds threatening rain, but it never reached BBHQ. Well, if it did, it was overnight, and we missed it.

And the most shocking thing so far this year - we've had blue skies in the last few days more than once.

Now for this week's **SPRING** update.

A vibrant spring garden filled with colourful flowers, moss‑covered rocks, and bright green foliage. A birdbath with two small bird figurines sits to the right, reflecting the surrounding blooms. Shiny garden spheres are nestled among the plants, and bare branches in the foreground hint at early spring growth.

It's so lovely to finally see a little splash of colour in the garden ... and yes, we know there are lots of dead leaves in the flower bed. There's a reason for this: while the main bulk of the fallen leaves are composted in the autumn, the P.A. makes sure that all the flower borders have a nice thick layer over them, so it not only protects the bulbs and plant roots from frost, it also acts as a habitat for insects and other creepy crawlies in the garden.

She will probably put fresh compost on top in the warmer months, once the inhabitants have woken up and come out of hibernation. Plus, it acts as a lovely weed barrier too. Much cheaper than the bark, which the birds fling everywhere.

Yep, the birds at BBHQ are that rude, no due care or attention, or fluffs are given when they are in the midst of bark flinging! MOL

Are mew ready for this week's news?

A bright spring border made of lush green grass topped with alternating pink and white tulips, accented by small yellow flowers. Taller blades of grass rise behind the blooms, creating a fresh, cheerful, garden‑themed decorative frame.

First up in the news this week...

Fudge's Rooftop Mission

FUDGE - An orange tabby cat walks carefully along the edge of a tiled roof, looking down as if planning its next move. The reddish‑brown tiles have small patches of pale lichen nestled between them, creating a dramatic backdrop for the cat’s rooftop adventure.

Fudge was back on the roof, for a change. He said he needed to spy on Smooch because Smooch keeps showing up with black, dusty paws.

Fudge's sneaky report details that Smooch does, in fact, go into the coal pile, for what, remains to be determined.

Also, Smooch hates getting his mittens washed after this excustions! MOL  #OHDEAR

Next up in the news...

 Parsley's Garden Pawtrol

A black cat wearing a collar sits on a stone garden path surrounded by purple flowers, green foliage, and a large ceramic pot with a solar light. Trimmed bushes and tall trees frame the sunny garden scene as the cat looks off to the side, appearing to survey the area on “pawtrol.”

Parsley was enjoying the sunshine on his pawtrol around the garden. He found a nice sheltered spot where the cool breeze didn't ruffle his fur.

He said, and I quote, "It was epic until a large cloud came along and ruined all the warms!"

In other news...

Smooch Got The New Rug First

A white cat with bold black markings lounges on a woven beige rug, stretched out comfortably on its side with hind legs extended and front paws bent. The wooden floor frames the cosy scene as the cat enjoys first dibs on the new rug

The P.A. got a new rug the other day, and rolled it out in the catservatory temporarily while it fully unfurls and becomes less of a trip hazard.

It hadn't been there for two minutes, and this happened.

Yep, Smooch is now the proud owner of a brand new porch rug ... MOL

And finally, this week

Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick

Last week, mew obviously all voted for The St. Paddy's Day bandana, so here's the little dude sharing all the luck of the Irish! MOL

A white‑and‑tabby cat stands on a glossy black granite surface wearing a black bandana patterned with green shamrocks. A modern kitchen with cream cabinets and a large stainless fridge appears in the background, along with a white orchid. The cat looks alert and slightly to the left, framed with a clean white border.

Doesn't he look epic?

Oh, and W.D.G. still hasn't arrived back at BBHQ; he's decided to extend his vacation a little longer!

As Melvyn's modelled this bandana before, mew can watch his previous catwalk strut on your preferred social media channel:

A curved string of pastel pennant flags hangs in gentle arcs, with triangles in soft blue, pink, yellow, and green. At each peak of the curve sits a white flower with a yellow center, giving the decoration a cheerful, festive look suitable for celebrations or spring‑themed designs.

Which one should he model next?

Here's the March Bandana Selection, and as we're headed full steam into Spring, we chose some colourful and bright bandanas for this month. Plus, it's St Paddy's Day, too, and how could we not have one for that epic day! MOL

Four colourful triangular cat bandanas are arranged in a neat grid on a textured background, each labelled 1 to 4 as part of the March 2026 Collection. Bandana 1 has a purple base with bright floral and butterfly patterns. Bandana 2 features a green background with whimsical spring illustrations including a girl, birds, flowers, and a dog in a basket. Bandana 3 shows a cream background covered in multicoloured owls with pink and blue rickrack trim. Bandana 4 has a black background decorated with vibrant green shamrocks for a St Patrick’s Day theme. The overall look is cheerful and seasonal, showcasing the variety of designs available for the BBHQ cats.

The March Collection:

1. Spring Vibes

2. Pretty Garden

3.  Colourful Owls

4. St Paddy's Day

One more to go! MOL

 Epic Greetings Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Happy Wednesday!

Let's do the weather report ... we've had some sunny spells, but sadly, this time of year, those soon gave way to overcast greyness. Though the rain has stayed away, we've only had a tiny bit of drizzle instead of a full-on monsoon.

This has been most beneficial, as the P.A. can now see the craters in the local roads; they're not covered in water anymore! MOL

Yes, we have a monstrous pothole problem in the area right now, so much so that the P.A. actually asked if she could use the tank on rubber tracks that's in the bunker.

I had to respectfully decline, as she doesn't hold the appropriate license. Sadly, I can't repeat her response to that! MOL

Moving on, here are some really pretty flowers!

A vibrant cluster of spring primroses in shades of white, pink, bright pink, and purple blooms among lush green leaves in the garden at BBHQ. The flowers sit against a natural backdrop of soil and fallen leaves, creating a cheerful burst of early‑spring colour.

On the Sunday Selfies post, remember the catnip plant by the back door?

So, before we dive into this week's news, we just have to answer this query from Meezer's Mews & Terrieristical Woofs, because it was a very valid and well-pointed out.

That was mean of the PA to not hand over the trimmed catnip so you could have at least indulged in it

It was heinously mean in the context of the post, but let me explain ... it was a tiny plant about sixteen inches in height, on about three straggly stems, which had miraculously survived the winter. After Parsley discovered it, there was very little left; yes, he massacred it, shredded with his pantherene claws.

So the P.A. cut it back before it was literally ripped out of the pot, and then there'd be none for this summer.

It was a small sacrifice for the greater good! MOL

Very well pointed out, and thank mew Meezer's, we love it that mew have our six on the catnip front, totally top paw!!!! 🐾🐾

First up in the news this week...

Parsley's Sunspot

Parsley, a sleek black cat, is stretched out on a light cushioned seat, fast asleep in a warm sunspot. His crescent‑moon collar charm rests against his fur as the sunlight highlights his glossy coat. The scene feels peaceful and content, capturing Parsley enjoying a perfect moment of sunshine.

Parsley took full advantage of an early morning sunspot. He loved it!

Next up in the news...

Pandora Posing on The Millwheel

Pandora, a long‑haired brindle-torti cat with warm brown highlights, stands on a stone millwheel outdoors, looking directly at the camera with a poised, confident expression. Sunlight catches the texture of her fur, and behind her are shrubs, bare branches, and a bright yellow spring flower under a clear blue sky. The scene feels calm and majestic, as though Pandora is surveying her garden kingdom.

In another sunny moment, Pandora was kind enough to let us take this picture! MOL

Fudge Enjoying A Spot of Heat Therapy

Fudge, a relaxed ginger cat, is stretched out on a textured rug in front of a glowing wood‑burning stove, his paws neatly crossed as he soaks up the warmth. The soft firelight highlights his fur while fireplace tools stand nearby, creating a snug, peaceful scene of pure heat‑therapy bliss.

Meanwhile, Fudge took the opportunity to optimise his heat therapy session while the others were outside!

He said, and I quote, "All the more warms for me!" MOL

And finally, this week

Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick

This time, Melvyn is modelling Spring Vibes, and he's absolutely loving it!

This one was a landslide in the voting, well done everypawdy!!!

Melvyn, a tabby cat with brown, black, and white markings, stands on a wooden sideboard wearing a bright purple floral “Spring Vibes” bandana. His eyes are closed in a relaxed, contented expression, as though he’s fully embracing the moment. Behind him is a cosy, stylish room with warm lighting, framed artwork, plants, and a lamp, giving the scene a calm, homey feel.

He's feeling so fluffing epic; it's not measurable by any instrument on Earth! MOL

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up **Full Moon Vibes** ~ Who The Fluff Was That? Pandora Found Another Sunspot, and Smooch Got Sliver A Sunspot ~ **PLUS** Melvyn's Modelling

Behind them is a decorative backdrop of pink cherry blossoms, pastel bunting, and newspaper‑style graphics.  Epic Greetings Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Well, we had some sunny days, then it rained all weekend, again!

Monday and Tuesday were rain-free and sunny, and the forecast for the rest of the week is sunny, getting up to a heady 16 degrees Celsius tomorrow, then cloudy and overcast for the weekend, and sunny with a high of 12 degrees Celsius predicted for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. And fluff knows we need some sunny days.

It's been a crappy couple of weeks at BBHQ.

We had a radiator issue, water everywhere and spent the weekend replacing the last of the original rads in the house, before they did the same too. And no, that was not the type of indoor swimming pool the P.A. asked for! MOL

The dishwasher broke down the week before, and the pond pumps decided to go to pond pump heaven as well. Luckily, the dishwasher was repaired, but the same can't be said for the pond pumps.

Next month, it will be a full-scale drain of the pond, and new pumps will be installed. Not what we wanted.

Anyhoo, swiftly moving on ...

This was the full moon last night at BBHQ.

A bright full moon glows in a blue nighttime sky, surrounded by soft scattered clouds. A gentle lens flare arcs across the image, and bare tree branches reach up from the corner, giving the scene a crisp early‑March feeling. The mood is calm and celestial, matching the BBHQ theme for the Third Full Moon of 2026.

Here's a bit more info on last night's celestial event.

We finally got a glimpse of last night’s full moon here at BBHQ, glowing bright and meautiful in a crisp early‑March sky. Soft clouds drifted around it, the bare branches reached up as if trying to touch it, and the whole scene had that calm, celestial vibe that makes mew stop for a moment and just look.

While our view was stunning, we didn’t get the main event, the total lunar eclipse that turned the Moon a deep crimson “blood moon” for skywatchers across North America, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of East Asia. During the eclipse, the Earth moved directly between the Sun and the Moon, and as sunlight filtered through our atmosphere, only the red wavelengths reached the lunar surface, giving it that dramatic ruby glow.

Sadly, the eclipse wasn’t visible from the UK this time, so our moon stayed bright and silvery rather than spooky and scarlet. But it was still a gorgeous sight, and knowing it was the last total lunar eclipse until late 2028 made the whole moment feel a bit more special, even if we only got the non‑eclipsed version.

Pandora mentioned this in her Monthly Meowoscope on Monday, so clearly she was tuned into the cosmic schedule long before the rest of us! MOL

Righty ho, let's look at this week's news.

A bright spring border made of lush green grass topped with alternating pink and white tulips, accented by small yellow flowers. Taller blades of grass rise behind the blooms, creating a fresh, cheerful, garden‑themed decorative frame.

First up in the news this week...

Who The Fluff Was That?

Fudge, a confident ginger cat with bright green eyes, sits in the foreground giving a direct, slightly commanding stare as if supervising the room. Behind him, Melvyn, a gentle tabby‑and‑white cat, sits calmly on the floor, watching with a softer, more thoughtful expression. They’re indoors near a chair and a brick wall, looking like a perfectly mismatched duo—one bold, one observant.

Fudge and Melvyn were mid-snack in the catservatory when Sammy, from next door, who looks just like Melvyn, wandered into the courtyard.

Yep, Melvyn has a doppelganger, and Fudge, well, let's just say it was a good thing the door was closed.

A bright spring border made of lush green grass topped with alternating pink and white tulips, accented by small yellow flowers. Taller blades of grass rise behind the blooms, creating a fresh, cheerful, garden‑themed decorative frame.

Next up in the news...

Pandora Found Another Sunspot

Pandora, a long‑haired tortoiseshell cat with rich dark and golden fur, sits on the carpet facing a glass door, her body glowing in the sunlight. Her thick plume of a tail curls around her as she watches the world outside with calm, regal focus, looking every bit the thoughtful queen surveying her territory.

Pandora is the Queen of sunspots right now at BBHQ, last time she was under the gazebo

And yesterday, it was the catservatory.

A bright spring border made of lush green grass topped with alternating pink and white tulips, accented by small yellow flowers. Taller blades of grass rise behind the blooms, creating a fresh, cheerful, garden‑themed decorative frame.

In other news...

Smooch Got Sliver A Sunspot

Smooch, a white cat with bold black markings including a perfect heart‑shaped patch on his back, sits on a dark mat in a sunbeam, looking toward the camera with his calm, slightly serious expression. Sunlight highlights his fur while a bowl of kibble sits nearby, giving the scene a cosy “caught mid‑snack in his favourite sunspot” feeling.

Smooch then entered the catservatory after Pandora and got this intense beam.

At first, he thought he was being scanned by some nefarious gadgetry, but realised it was just the sun, and then everything went back to normal! MOL

And finally, this week

Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick

We're kicking this month with the gorgeous, Pretty Garden bandana, and it looks EPIC!

Melvyn, a tabby, brown, black‑and‑white cat with a bright, alert expression, stands on a kitchen countertop wearing a teal garden‑themed bandana decorated with flowers and a small illustrated figure. The colours pop against his fur as he poses confidently in the modern kitchen, looking every bit the BBHQ fashion model showing off the March bandana collection.

And, BBHQ's Supurr Model was contemplating doing a quick spin on the catwalk, but then he got distracted in the catservatory! MOL MOL

Melvyn, a tabby, brown, black‑and‑white cat, stands on a wooden floor beside an interactive green-and-white cat toy, gazing toward the open space ahead as if weighing up whether to launch into a dramatic catwalk strut. Another cat is partly visible inside a nearby cat house, and potted plants sit on a shelf by the glass wall overlooking the garden. The whole scene has a playful, thoughtful energy, as though Melvyn is mentally rehearsing his runway debut.

There were copious amounts of catnip on the scratcher he was standing on... no catwalk today, then! MOL

He's really missing W.D.G. aka Were-Dee-Go, the invisible monster who lives behind the sofa, there was another postcard from Tunisia this week. Hopefully, he'll be back at BBHQ soon, and Melvyn will feel a lot happier.

A curved string of pastel pennant flags hangs in gentle arcs, with triangles in soft blue, pink, yellow, and green. At each peak of the curve sits a white flower with a yellow center, giving the decoration a cheerful, festive look suitable for celebrations or spring‑themed designs.

Here's the March Bandana Selection, and as we're headed full steam into Spring, we chose some colourful and bright bandanas for this month. Plus, it's St Paddy's Day, too, and how could we not have one for that epic day! MOL
