Well, we did have an exciting end to last week, Storm Babet decided to pay us a visit on Friday. Now we're pretty used to being on weather watch, as we've been flooded several times before, but the water literally came out of nowhere. At 10.30 a.m., it was just raining, and then an hour later it was like this, and literally lapping against the workshop doors.
Luckily we have a water pump which pumps the equivalent of an Olympic-sized swimming pool per hour.
That little pump ran for 7 hours straight, from midday until just after 7pm, that's an awful lot of water. Just for context a pool that size is approx 460K gallons. And by just after 8pm Cat Dad and the P.A. called time as the water had receded enough for them to leave.
We also have a custom-built flood defence on each of the workshop doors on the lowest part of the site, and that is further bolstered on the inside by sandbags.
However, if we hadn't had the water pump, those defences would have been rendered useless as the sheer volume of water would have moved up and around the building until it eventually found a way in and quite pawsibly flooded Nanny and Grampaw next door.
So we were so, so incredibly lucky.
Even the roads were impassible in places, and a lot of the villages were cut off. The main road at work had several places that were at least 18" to 24" deep for long stretches. The P.A. had to get her cousin to fetch her from Mewton-Clawson in his 4x4, as her car would have just drowned in deep water. And her old beat-up, landrover is at work waiting for a new chassis. A fat lot of good it was there! MOL
But we managed, though sadly a lot of people nearby were not so lucky, some were even rescued from their homes with a cherry picker. Getting flooded is terrible, and we send oodles of pawsitive vibes to all those affected and wish them a speedy cleanup and return to normal.
Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.
First up in the news

After all that rain last week, we did get a brief spell on sunshine on Monday, and Fudge was lapping it up.
So much so, he was nearly glowing! MOL

And that reminds us, the new Halloween Crafting with Cats project is currently under construction, so if all goes to plan we'll share it on Caturday, but if not, it will be Monday.
