Furbulous Greetings Supurr Furiends
Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!
If mew remember last week, we promised mew a sneak peek of the new garden area we are working on at BBHQ. Now it's not purretty, so ready yourselves! MOL
Here it is:
Well, this is looking pawsitively peachy compared with a few weeks ago when it was a weed jungle. It is not a great space, or easy to do anything with, but the P.A. is quite hopeful that she can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear - eventually! MOL
Mew can see the two new raised beds on the left, they aren't in their final position, as the upstairs windows need painting soon when Cat Dad has a week off in July, and he needs to be able to get the ladder in situ to do that. Then we'll be able to move them to their final position.
Also, mew can just see two black garden arches. They are now firmly planted in the new planters, the P.A. wrapped the bottom of the metal arches in plastic and used duct tape to secure it in place, as the metal isn't great so won't last long in the soil without that extra bit of protection. The runner beans will be planted this week so we'll take some pics to share with mew soon.
We've also been working on the lawn. If mew remember at some point in recent times the P.A. said how shocking it looked, and then had a lawn company out to BBHQ to see what could be done. Those clowns came back with a preliminary price of approx £850 + VAT (20%) to scarify, top dress and reseed. Plus a bit of feed and weed treatment. Cat Dad rang them up to basically say fluff off, but before he could say anything the chap then said he'd got the price wrong and it would be something like £1100 + VAT to do it - seriously, we're in the wrong job!
Anyhoo, Cat Dad bought an electric scarifier from Amazon for £159.00 delivered to the door, and this is Cat Dad at work doing the first pass.
He had to adjust the level of the blades, so they went deeper to rip out more of the moss. After he'd traversed up and down over the entire lawn, a ton bag was filled with moss. This Caturday he's going to repeat the process going side to side, to get what's left.
We'll keep mew updated on the lawn's progress over the coming weeks.
Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.
First up in the news this week
Fudge is Not A Happy Camper
Poor Fudge was most displeased when Smooch was basking under the gazebo and he was inside under house arrest for crimes committed over the weekend! MOL
Seriously though, Fudge is not allowed to roam freely without full-time snoopervision, and this wasn't his time.
But check the next story!
Next up in the news
Fudge IS a Happy Camper
Later that day, Fudge got to go on an outdoor excursion and a little garden safari. He even ate fresh catmint by the pond! MOL
So he did indeed get his wish fulfilled.
Finally this week

This week the Astrology for Cats bandana was voted for by mew. So here's BBHQ's Top Model Melvyn, doing what he does best! MOL
It was a little warm on Monday when Melvyn did his modelling, so he only did one run on the catwalk, but he finished with an ameowzing paw shake at the end!
Check out Melvyn strutting his stuff on:
Which one should he model next?
Here's the brand new bandana selection for June.

ReplyDeleteHow about the Purrtastic Peach Blossom bandana next, Melvyn? The new garden is really shaping up nicely. :)
ReplyDeleteFudge, we are glad you finally got to go outside!
Concatulations to Peachy and Stippy. Lynn says the new veggie garden is very very beautiful as is. And just wait fur the greenery to show up as eatin' plants! No doubt about it, if she had this space she'd like to think she'd be smart enough to use it. Me, I'l like to walk in it. Glad to know Fudge got a bit of fresh nippy. I have my own pot on the patio now, and I purrtake of it ev-furry day. Precious
ReplyDeleteConcats to the winners!
ReplyDeleteLovely garden areas; I search jumble sales and online community sites to find garden art that I can recycle into our yard.
The Hubby refuses to help transport any huge rock; such a spoilsport!
I want big rocks, as well as antique and unique items.
Congratulations to Peachy, Stippie and Granny on the win. Love them all.
ReplyDeleteI pick Fairy Magic for next week.
Have a purrfect day and rest of the week. Scritches all around and a big hug to mom. ♥

ReplyDeleteWow, lots of work on that new garden area, I bet it will be really nice! Love all the pictures and Melvin doing his walk. Many congrats to AngelWhisper2011! We like the Purrtastic Peach Blossom for the next bandana.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Peachy and Stippy!!! Fudge, maybe if you were less of a hooligan, then you could enjoy more outside time. Hahaha! Melvyn you always do an epic job on the catwalk! That paw shake was everything! Smooch, it's a good thing that you are supervising the yard work, you know how humans can fluff things up!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Peaches and Stippy! I pick the fairy one like I keep picking. :) Fudge did look quite mad. xo
ReplyDeleteThe new garden area is already looking good! That was a ridiculous quote for the lawn! At least now your dad has the scarifier for future use. I think we need one. We use a springbok rake on the moss and it is tiring work.
ReplyDeleteGood job on the modelling, Melvyn.
Congratulations to Peach and Stippie.
OMC that moss looks very soft, but a little to much too, what a work that must have been for your Dadšø We pick the Fairy bandana for the next round, Melvin, that really looks good. Oh, Fudge, your face says it allšEnjoy garden time cuties and WOW that greenhouses look great! We're such lucky boys, so happy that the namepicker picked our names after you put us in. Thanks guysšWill send an email right away! Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day to all of youš¾š½š
