The sheep were quite happy to be in our selfie, they are, Betsy Boo and Baa-bra! MOL

Last week we visited the Nine Maidens, and this week, it's the Nine Ladies! MOL Is the number NINE significant, or is it just a red herring? The mystery just keeps getting more mysterious!

Mew know, one thing that we've learnt on all our Stone Circle trips is that, still today, nopawdy has definitive proof of what they were actually used for.

We purrsonsonally think that aside from the obvious religious aspect and the definite astrological links, we think that our ancestors had magic. Real magic and that these stone circles were really portals, as mew'll find that most of them are built directly on top of ley lines.

Where we live there are no ley lines in the county, so there's no stone cirlces. How did our ancesters know about those energetic energy rivers beneath the ground?  And then build these incredible monuments directly on top of these invisible, energetic underground rivers, yet what we find even more mysterious is that nopawdy actually talks about this.

Mew know, we thank Bast for the show Ancient Aliens, as those dudes are right on the money with their theories!

>^.^<

Mew know how much we love ancient standing stones and stone circles, see our previous trips to:

Here's a little bit of info from BBHQ's Historical Travel Guide, Smooch:

Greetings fellow travellers and history lovers!

The Nine Ladies Stone Circle, located in Stanton Moor, Derbyshire, UK, is a remarkable prehistoric monument that dates back to the Bronze Age. It is believed to have been constructed around 3,000 to 4,000 years ago, making it one of the oldest surviving stone circles in the country. The Nine Ladies Stone Circle is made up of nine standing stones, each of which is approximately 1 metre in height, arranged in a circular formation with a diameter of around 11 meters. The stones are made of millstone grit, a type of sandstone that is common in the area. The purpose of the Nine Ladies Stone Circle remains a mystery, although there are many theories about its original use. Some experts believe that it may have been used for religious or spiritual ceremonies, while others suggest that it was used for astronomical observations or as a meeting place for local communities. Despite the uncertainty surrounding its origins, the Nine Ladies Stone Circle is an impressive and fascinating sight to behold. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with rolling hills and verdant forests stretching out in every direction. If mew're interested in exploring other historical sites in the area, there are several other places of interest nearby. Wingfield manor, for example, is located just over 9 miles from the Nine Ladies Stone Circle. The Arbor Low Stone Circle and Henge is another nearby site, and is one of the best-preserved prehistoric sites in the UK. Visiting the Nine Ladies Stone Circle is a must for anypawdy interested in history, archaeology, or ancient monuments. It is a truly remarkable site that has stood the test of time, and continues to captivate visitors from all over the globe.

Anyhoo it's time for us to go and snoopervise in the garden, as the Spring clean up is under way. But only a mild version, as we leave all the fallen leaves in the garden borders, and we don't snip any of last years dead flowers, (apart from roses) as we've found that lots of insects use them as homes over the winter. So it will be a bit of sweep around and general tidy up.

Smooch is already camped out by the oven, waiting for the P.A. to turn it on, and this week he's got a big bit of juicy steak for his lunch, honestly no wonder he parks his bum up and refuses to move. And don't worry we all get a little dish with some of the tasty steak.

Do drop by tomorrow as we're sharing more Valentine's crafts for cats, and if mew missed anything so far, here are the links:

If mew missed Part I, click here to see how we made an epic heart shaped crinkle mat, and here for Part II, when we made some epic catnip hearts and kicker toys. Check out Part III for the most epic Valentine's Cat Cottage ever, and click here to see Part IV, the Best Cat Tree Glow Up ever! Guys this place is so pawesome, the view was epic, althought it was a little breezy even though the sky was moderately blue for this time year! MOL

Here's a little bit of info from BBHQ's Historical Travel Guide, Smooch:

Greetings fellow travellers and history lovers!

This week, we visited the Boskednan stone circle, also known as The Nine Maidens of Boskednan. Upon arrival, we were struck by the sight of the circle, made up of 19 granite stones initially suspected to be 22 or 23, standing tall and proud, and each stone possesses its own unique shape. The stones ranged in height from 1.1 to 1.5 metres and were placed with precision, creating a circular formation with a diameter of around 22 metres. There are also two taller stones on the north-northwest west side, which are about 2 metres in height, although only one still stands today. The intricate design of the circle speaks to the impressive engineering skills of its ancient creators.

The Boskednan stone circle dates back to the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age period, around 2500 BC, and is believed to have been used for ceremonial purposes, possibly as a site for religious gatherings or rituals. The exact purpose of the circle is still shrouded in mystery, but it's clear that this site was highly significant to the people who lived in this area thousands of years ago.

As we looked out at the landscape surrounding the circle, we were struck by the natural beauty and majestic feeling of the location. The circle sits on a hillside, with panoramic views of the stunning countryside of Penzance. The rolling green hills and valleys create a picturesque backdrop for the ancient stones, and the peaceful atmosphere of the site is genuinely pawe-inspiring.

The area surrounding the Boskednan stone circle is also rich in history and culture, with several other fascinating attractions to explore. The nearby Lanyon Quoit, a prehistoric site with a massive capstone weighing about 12 tons, is an incredible feat of engineering. The ancient village of Chysauster provides a glimpse into the lives of the Iron Age inhabitants of the area, with well-preserved ruins of homes and courtyards.

For those interested in more recent history, the Penlee House Museum is a must-see attraction. The museum houses an impressive collection of local art and artefacts, including works by some of Penzance's most renowned artists.

In summary, our visit to the Boskednan stone circle was a truly unforgettable experience. The intricate design of the circle, combined with the natural beauty of the encompassing landscape, created a sense of wonder and appreciation for the rich history of the area. If you find yourself in Penzance, we really recommend taking the time to visit this incredible site and immerse yourself in the history and beauty of the land.

Furbulous Sunday greetings pawesome furiends

Welcome to another BBHQ selfie selection, this week we decided to bip west across the border to the meowgical and mystical land of Wales in our Time Travelling Telephone Box and visit the Moel Ty Uchaf Stone Circle.

Guys this place is just furbulous, and we were high up in the hills, overlooking meautiful valleys for miles around.

Mew know how much we love ancient standing stones and stone circles, see our previous trips to:

Here's a little bit of info from BBHQ's Historical Travel Guide, Smooch:

Greetings fellow travellers and history lovers!

As we made our way up the winding path to the Moel Ty Uchaf Stone Circle in Denbighshire, Wales, we were struck by the breathtaking meauty of the surrounding countryside. The rolling hills stretched out before us, dotted with sheep grazing in the fields. As we approached the circle, we could see the standing stones rising up from the earth like sentinels, their weathered surfaces bearing witness to the passage of time.

The Moel Ty Uchaf Stone Circle is an impurressive sight to behold. The circle has a diameter of approximately 12 meters, and some of the 41 remaining standing stones are touching, suggesting it was for a *burial site. The stones vary in size, from small to large and one metre being to largest, although they aren't that tall compared to other sites we've visited. The stones are arranged in a very neat formation, and it's hard not to feel a sense of reverence in their presence.

As we stood in the midst of the stone circle, we couldn't help but wonder about its purpose. The circle is thought to have been erected during the Bronze Age, over 4,000 years ago. Some believe it was used for religious or ceremonial purposes. In contrast, others think it was a meeting place for local tribes or even the outer perimeter for a *burial mound, which has since been robbed. Whatever its purpose, the circle exudes a sense of mystery and total awe.

In recent times, there have been numerous reports of paranormal/unexplained activity around this area, which UFO enthusiasts regularly visit. And apparently, there was the 'Welsh Roswell' incident on the 23rd of January 1974.

After spending some time at the stone circle, we decided to explore some of the other historic places of interest in the area. Denbigh Castle is a formidable fortress built in the 13th century by King Edward I. The castle stabds proud on a hilltop and offers epic views of the surrounding countryside. Its walls and towers are well-preserved, and visitors can explore the winding staircases and hidden chambers.

Denbighshire is a land of ancient history and natural meauty, and the Moel Ty Uchaf Stone Circle is just one of many treasures waiting to be discovered. Whether mew're a history buff or just looking for a unique travel destination, Denbighshire has something to offer everypawdy.

We're off to keep warm by the fire as the temperature is pawsitively Arctic, and the weather peeps keep saying that we're in for the worst snow storm since 2010, plus it could last several weeks on and off. And we remember 2010, because the P.A. was snowed in for two weeks, so we'll be topping up supplies and making sure that BBHQ is well stocked.

Smooch is waiting by the oven again for his roast beef at lunchtime, seriously we think he's got a bit of a purroblem and are planning an intervention, as his obsession with what's cooking, and what may be for him is getting out of control.

Do join us again tomorrow for another CATS HAVE PURROBLEMS TOO, and if mew missed the previous Despurrate Dilemma, click here. And we'll be back on Tueday with Chapter Eleven in our epic adventure, Claws of Terror.

We do hope mew have an epic day, and remember to always...
